My guess is the midterms. They're only about 18 months away. Trump is going to get smacked, sitting presidents always do. And who is going to take the blame?

Bold of you to assume there will even be a mid-term.

He has to keep him around long enough to blame him.

Usually the President has more power than a billionaire. But if an incompetent President doesn't understand how to wield that power, one could make an argument that the billionaire has more usable power. Even though Musk is an idiot, he's smarter than Trump, and he wouldn't have been willing to destroy Tesla's rep if he didn't have a bigger target in his sights. If Trump ends the relationship, Musk will retaliate. He can't afford not to.

Imagine if Elon was found guilty and had to pay to fix everything.

Musk has recently said he’ll be done by May. He doesn’t like all the negative attention and people being mean to him. Poor baby. Maybe he needs to find a safe space?

He can't disconnect, Trump has huge leverage on him, and vice versa, the inevitable falling out will be delicious

45 ain’t got shit on Musk. 45 is a puppet - musk is tired of the stink associated with being seen w 45. He’s banking on short memory to pull his stock price out of the toilet - if it drops another 50% his lenders can start calling for total repayment of the loan he took out to buy twitter or force a sale and they have 0 reason not to do it.

The office of President has massive leverage always over everyone, not matter who holds it, absolutely ridiculous to think otherwise.
