Not just a book, it's a series too. My kid watch it all the time.

Pannkakstårtan!

6 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Ah yes, I figured this wasn't American children's literature... Not enough cookies and basic word forms.

Is this a thing outside of Scandinavia?

6 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 0

At the very least all over Europe. And all the books have great ratings on amazon.com, so I'm pretty sure the US is in as well.

Cat tax: Findus.

I see myself become him more every day

6 years ago | Likes 121 Dislikes 1

In one of the series' episodes he puts his pants into a cake dough. This is what everyone should aspire to be.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The old men look like Steven Spielberg

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Gamla gubben Pettson.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

A birthday cake for Findus! I had that one! My childhood in Germany was this & Asterix, Tintin, Lucky Luke. Also anything Astrid Lindgren!

6 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

So basically your german childhood was my swedish childhood?

6 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Nah, I think depending on your social background it's rather alike.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I see Findus I upvote

6 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

The garden game was one of my favorites.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Loved these as a kid!

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I grew up with these. ❤️

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I read these books to my american girlfriends kids (my "bonuskids"), but in Swedish. I have inherited my fathers torytelling abilities.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I read these most nights to my 2 year old.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"Check signalementet én gang til" those who played the game knows

6 years ago | Likes 60 Dislikes 3

It took me soo long before I discovered the secret tunnels, but they were definitely the best part!

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I've never completed that game.. How the heck is a kid supposed to know what "signalement" is??

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Yas! I remember now! Gotta play that again someday!

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

sjukt, nu minns jag med.

Always appreciate the help of your Palicos

6 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Palicos?

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Small cat like humanoids that help you on your quests in the monster hunter games, much like Findus is helping Pettson.

TIL!!

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I remember growing up in the early 90s and all the kids wanting crepe cakes for their birthday parties.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's not crepes. It's Swedish pancakes (thin like crepes but sweeter in taste)

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Tack, jag vet, men "crepes" är lättare för engelskspråkiga att förstå ?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Lived just a a few km from the author when I grew up, I remember once he and another illustrator visited my school (1)

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

They drew a door on the whiteboard in the class room and just asked us "who lives there?". Then they drew what we answered (2)

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

by the end of the class they had covered the whole whiteboard with a giant picture in much the same style as the books (3)

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

One of my most priced possessions is a signed copy of one of his books about the Swedish East Indian Company by Sven Nordquist (4)

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Loved these books as a kid...aged pretty well though, compared to other things ^^

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Pettsson? Isn't it Pettersson?

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Only in the German translation

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I just looked it up. Pettsson is the English translation. In Dansk e.g. it's Peddersen. Couldn't find out the original Swedish name.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The original name is "Pettson" ( https://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pettson_och_Findus )

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh! Didn't expect that!

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Wait, these are internationally recognized??

6 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

I remember reading "Pancakes for Findus" as a kid, but not sure how popular they were overall here in the states.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm also german, and I always begged my mom to make a pancake cake for my birthday.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

American here, grew up with Tintin and Asterix, didn't learn of this one until just now.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Swede here. I still love those comics as an adult. Tintin, Asterix, Spirou and Lucky Luke was my childhood.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

german here, these were one of my favourite books as a child

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Cool, I had no idea. I'm swedish and since this is swedish I just figured it was distributed here. I had the one where with the bull

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The books are at my parents house but I vaguely remember the one with the bull, the first one where they meet eachother, the one where

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Pettsson breaks his leg and the one where they build a christmas tree. Maybe we had more but those are the ones I remember. The pictures

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

always had so much detail

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I love these books. I think it's amazing how the drawings of several scenes blend together

6 years ago | Likes 570 Dislikes 2

i had no idea they were books i only ever saw the cartoon as a kid

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Love how there's a painting of what Findus thinks a tent is on the wall.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Reading translated Finnish is so weird. I have the Moomin books and it's very hard to get use to the sentence structure.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Same as a swede.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I love the little details in the pictures!

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There is so much detail! The little trolls, all the movement one can clearly see, and the absurdities that sometimes are just there.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This mixed with a serious and well crafted drawing style is very cool, and probably quite unique.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have never heard of this. What's it called?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Different things in different languages, but if you google Pettson it shouldn't be hard to find what it's called in yours, if it exists.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You.. uh.. you got the rest?

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Sorry, this is taken off of Amazon. Don't think they show the entire book as preview there, I'm afraid.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I've never heard of these books. Might have to buy some for my niece's. I like the art and finddus seems like a hoot.

6 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

It has a where's waldo element with small trolls hidden all around the pictures. Was great fun when I was little

6 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Ooh they are the best. Artwork is amazing, great fun stories about the 2. Still read them from time to time (30 yrs old now)

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Was a big part of my childhood, not too sure how easy some of them are to get a hold on. Do you know?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As a swede its really easy to get a hold of the books but don't know where you live

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well, sweden. What about before pettsson, Minus och stora världen, Hattjakten, Guldflickan?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Lol I'm almost 30 as well. Just was at my niece's 1st bday and the other one is almost 3. So, would be the perfect time to get them++

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

++this collection. Hell, might even buy myself one for when I have my kids.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh very much so perfect timing for them! Go for it man! :D I'm keeping my collection safe for my future kids :))

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Wait, so these books are actually a thing outside of Sweden? I'm glad and proud!

6 years ago | Likes 133 Dislikes 0

It's been translated to about 47 languages.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Switzerland. Plus loved to recommend these when I worked as a bookseller. :)

I once saw the cartoon adaptation, dubbed into Czech.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I vaguely remember seeing them as a child in usa. But i grew up on a military base so might be because of that

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Here to confirm they were also translated to Icelandic

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Belgium i used to have a game about these 2 :D

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

nice! Hope you'll have a great day when the 27th arrives :)

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

thats unfair, y'all are basically brothers

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

At first i was gonna say brothers that kind of hate eachother but i realised thats basicly what brothers are. Love/hate relationship ftw!

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Same with us, Austrians and Switzerland (Lichtenstein is more a Switzerland-Twin but smaller)

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Germany
