Republicans will try to make the most of this tragedy by ensuring that the child is poorly educated and grows up to vote Republican

70 million republican voting americans this year will vote for 13 years olds to continue to have babies because they believe in fairy tales written by conmen 2000 years ago and an orange idiot today.

So wrong! We (Southern Ireland) exported our 'problems' to the UK. Girls and women had to leave the country, lying to their doctors to get the required paperwork, going for the procedure to an unknown clinic, returning as quickly as possible to avoid suspicion. Traumatised. No counselling or assistance of any sort. Things are somewhat different now.

2 years ago | Likes 129 Dislikes 3

Oh hey here in the US the redhats are actually working to bring that kinda behavior back. They've already done it in all of the worst states and a few others.

2 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

All it took was a horrible death in the court of public opinion and 5 years. In a country where 30 years prior, it was difficult to even get contraception. Also, back then, Northern Ireland also had banned abortions, so all of Ireland shipped them to England/Wales/Scotland. And it's weird to hear it called "Southern Ireland". Haha

There was also a boat in international waters if memory serves that provided the service.

Women need to just move out of the state. Or save up and help their daughters move away.
Band together, deny s3x, help, work or intimacy to men.
See how quickly we can force change.
The suffragettes did it.

This makes me want to break down in a raging cry. That poor girl. Her life is now so terribly altered, and I can only hope that she receives some additional help and support.

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Additional help and support? The bullshit parts of your various government entities only care that the baby be born. What happens after that is a big fuck you.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

So would she have qualified if her mom got off her ass and tried to help her?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Tell us how it's done, armchair hero. When the girl's mom was they should go to Chicago to get an abortion; when they're already struggling, and she already works days AND goes to school; when "Mississippi has several conflicting laws and even experts...are having a hard time navigating them." Yeah, they were just being lazy, right? She should have just grabbed for her bootstraps, right?

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

This clip says she got confused and didn't try. Not apologizing for directly quoting the source material.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It says she asked the doctor when she found out the girl was pregnant, and the doctor told her to go to Chicago. Tell me again what a poor woman of color is supposed to do when the medical professional who deals with that shit every day says the best bet is to cross the fucking country to get help.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As someone who is poor and has to go across the country for a third and then fourth time for surgery - you go to Chicago. Or figure out somewhere closer. You don't just let your child go through that and call reporting it to the media good enough.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

100% someone is gunna try and argue that if she didn't have the baby they would never have caught the suspect.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just vote. VOTE this year. If we don't want CRAP like this, we need to be very CLEAR that we understand it as CRAP.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

People have voted the man into office. What did they expect was going to happen?

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

No, no, Americans didn't. Fascist ultra right religious fucks did.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

It's not archaic. There is nothing archaic about it. It's purposeful. There are people in charge of laws salivating at the prospect of doing the same.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Just did a quick search and the cheapest bus ticket to Chicago from Jackson, Ms was 276$. Add another for Mom and it’s 552$. Abortion prices were harder to find, but it seems to start at $400 for the abortion pill, but only up to 11 weeks. Most were higher though- $1,000 was common. Add in staying somewhere (even at the sleaziest motel), transportation to the clinic and you’re past $1,000.

And yet America continues to advertise itself as "The Land of the Free." This hypocrisy has been going on my entire life. I wonder if I'll live long enough to see America either admit it is no such thing, or actually establish the freedoms it touts. I doubt it.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I feel like, if you wouldn't be able to get a house or a job or any of the other stuff you'd need to support a baby, you shouldn't be forced to have one.

2 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

I feel you shouldn't be forced to have one period. Even if you can get that stuff.

2 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Ah!, but you see, forcing kids back into work is one of the many things they want to do; they've already started.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They want to reverse progress back to the 1880s, when corporations could do whatever they wanted with no repercussions.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Get rid of all that safety nonsense and forget about sending kids to school, because they're going to be working.

Best Thing to do in such case is to take the next flight to Europe and get the abortion done without shame. Might even qualify for refugee status to get temporary citizenship, free healthcare and hospitality in some countries.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That is a very expensive sentence

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

How? Average cost for a flight from the Us to Northern Europe is 1600$ at best. Usually it’s 2,000$. Per person.

One of my brother's friends growing up was 12 when he had sex with his 11 year old "girlfriend". She got pregnant. Her parents forced them to keep the baby and get married. There was no bright side to the situation.

2 years ago | Likes 412 Dislikes 7

That is so fucked up!

2 years ago | Likes 62 Dislikes 0

all to keep it "above board" by their twisted social standards. they raise children that fuck without protection; then trap those children in marriage, robbing them of so much life experience, to make sure that the baby is born and it's not embarrassing to the grandparents. the abusive exercise of control is fucking terrifying.

2 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

i am reminded of the ongoing opposition to eliminating child marriage: https://www.masslive.com/politics/2024/05/nh-lawmaker-opposes-new-marriage-bill-says-teens-are-of-ripe-fertile-age.html they think that kids are "ripe and fertile" and that marriage should stay an option to keep those underage pregnancies unembarrassing to the family without resorting to abortion... with no regard for the life of the pregnant child

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Repression?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I would think marriage at that age would only encourage additional sex/babies, TBh.

2 years ago | Likes 116 Dislikes 1

Well he moved in with her, and her parents. And their newborn baby. They both ended up promiscuous as hell, but I don't remember them ending up with another kid.

2 years ago | Likes 77 Dislikes 4

Well... at those early ages, pregnancy is physically devastating. Well... it's physically devastating at any age (and the 6th deadliest job in America by death rate), but even more so that early. It's entirely possible that they didn't end up with another kid because her uterus was ruptured and she simply can't anymore.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 3

You're supposed to teach kids how to use a condom BEFORE they've had a baby, though.

2 years ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 1

Not that is just encouraging kids to have sex - conservatives.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Strictly speaking, this is better than usual as they were about the same age. This is curious kids going too far...which is a lot better than rape.

2 years ago | Likes 55 Dislikes 6

Oh for sure I think the kids having sex isn’t the problem it’s the parents forcing them to keep the baby

2 years ago | Likes 45 Dislikes 0

Absolutely stupid parents, I'm guessing idiot religious

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Mmmm, kids having sex is a weee bit of a problem.

2 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 1

Context matter, if it's them doing it without supervision, then it's their issue. It totally changes context if its supervised......

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

That's still a parenting issue. If my 11 or 12 year old is sneaking off having sex I'm not going to go oh well it's their issue.

2 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 2

No, thats a big problem, kids that age shouldn’t even be thinking about sex, there is a reason why we don’t let our kids watch movies with sex scenes because we dont want them to have those ideas until they are adults

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

"...shouldn't even be thinking about sex..." Do you know what puberty is?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I mean yea it’s a problem I just see it as a dramatically smaller problem than forcing women or girls to give birth

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I have ran across so many "Liberals" that claim they aren't voting in November.
"bUt GeNoCiDe jOe!!!"

You cannot claim to have any Liberal/Leftist/Democrat philosophies and not vote for Biden and every Democrat on the ticket this November. You can't. Period. Full stop. It's immoral to do anything that aides Trump and the Conservative agenda, and that includes not voting for Biden.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Wouldn't your ire be better saved for people who directly support the fuckery?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well MAGAs are a plague, but unless they're storming the capital they can vote for whoever they want. I may not like it, but that's what democracy is.
But ppl who don't go voting and afterwards whine about the outcome of an election, they deserve to be beaten with an ugly stick. In my humble opinion of course

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just seems like you're making more enemies than you need to be. Bad strategy. Some people aren't ready to jump on your bandwagon. It doesn't matter why. You can't compel them to with threats or guilt trips and shame. You need to give them a reason to. In some cases, that would mean compromising your own political ideals, which I DO NOT RECOMMEND. But when ppl paint the issue as black and white, us-or-them, it leaves no room for people to leave their cult. So accept that some people won't.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What are you talking about? My 'bandwagon' of voting for anyone but trump if you don't want him in the white house again? Do you know how democracy works? Because you're about to lose it

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Every time i see these stories my brain doesn't even go to maga conservatives. They're a lost cause, they see stories like these and think this is media propaganda or even worse think this is actually the desired outcome cause the baby gets to live. No, my brain goes to Bernie or busters or people now who wouldn;t vote for Biden because he's a genocidal maniac. The crowd that thinks that 2 old white men are the same thing. They are supposedly the most progressive, how brainrotted are they 1/2

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

to see stories like these and not connect the dots that their rhetoric leads to this outcome. How privileged a life must you live to condemn moderates for "accepting the lesser of two evils" when the alternative demonstrably leads to actual human rights being moved back decades like with Roe v. Wade. How do you get to live on that high horse and call yourself an empathic human being? They annoy me more because progressives are the ones that should pressure towards gaining ground, not against.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Wouldn't your ire be better saved for people who directly support the fuckery?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No. No. No. The fascists are lost causes. It's the people sitting on their hands because "both sides are the same" that richly deserve the ire. They must be made to understand that if they do nothing - if they don't vote - then they are as complicit in this fuckery as those who intend it.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well i ve accepted MAGAs are beyond reach, they actively and consistently work against human rights at this point and the facade of "religious values" and morality has dropped efficiently with them willing to follow Trump to wherever he goes. I haven't accepted how you can be on the left and pretend to not see the consequences of your actions and still insist you're doing the right thing and since the original post alrady expresses the ire against the right , i felt like covering the rest.

*who are American

2 years ago | Likes 85 Dislikes 14

So, by that logic, "all Germans are Nazis" mein Freund ?

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

Fucking stupid argument. Not all Germans are Nazis, just like not all American are ultra right fascists. But,the Nazis we have in our country are German. I may not like it, but unfortunately that's what they are. Same goes with you. Stop being so butthurt about your conservative idiots beings called Americans, just because you are not one. These are your people too, that's what a country is...a lot of people with a lot of different, often idiotic, different views. But they are still Americans.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 5

Technically yes. There is very strong sentiment among germans of that generation to claim that they "didn't know" but they still could have known easily enough. So most germans during the third reich were nazis, with all the responsibility/guilt that comes with that. Given german history, there are still too many nazis today.

But your argument fails to understand that america is in it's early stages, while germany now is more developed today (for example the general lack of national pride).

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Hey that not fucking us I can’t stand religion and most Americans are fed up with it too. We’re not the only place to have religious insanity, unfortunately we’re America so we do it the best.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 4

I dunno man, I think ISIS takes the recent trophy for religious insanity. Hollywood quality propaganda videos featuring HD executions of blasphemers was pretty damn wild

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Half correct. You are correct in saying that theya re not you, but they are American, as they have American citizenship, which means they are American. Like it or not, these are your people as well. And I get that you do not like it, trust me I know all about it...as I am German.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Notice something? Anything? Name a few countries with "religious insanity". If that's the bar, the bar is low. Especially given the ressources america as a country has.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That is very valid point

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Resources mean little when half of Congress is bought and paid for thanks to Citizens United and the majority of Americans are suffering from Reaganomics and 60 years of Republicans actively fucking the middle class so the elite can have a few more dollars per share.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

News from America is also sensualized and broadcasted worldwide on a level no other country is subject to. Guarantee you every country going "Dang Americans wtf?" has some nasty skeletons in their closet that aren't being paraded around

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Sadly that's not so true, yes america is very present in the worldwide media. People are usually also very informed about their own countries. So your argument is in the end: "America gets bad publicity! Russia should also get... oh they are already an open tyranny... then China... mhm also a distopian dictatorship..." See? Some of these bad reputations aren't new. America is "only" about 9 years now turning out to act like a crackhead, of course people are still surprised.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Glad you missed my entire point! By which btw was "Yall suck too" and not "America gets bad publicity" We all know Russia and China suck, but I wasn't referring to them, I was referring to every holier than thou smooth brains who immediatly bring up China and Russia instead of the skeletons in their closet

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Saying "American", without clarifying, implies the entire country is behind it. And you know that.

2 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 12

It will be exactly the same as how people speak about 20s and 30s Germany. Stop pointing fingers and act!

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Horseshit. I say they are Americans because they are Americans. Just because they don't believe in your American values doesn't mean they are not American anymore. They are American nationals, therefore they are American. End of story.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

No, it is not the end of story. Lumping an entire country together, due to the actions of a few, is ignorant. And that is the only horse shit I see. But you're more than welcome to be confident in your wrong opinion.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

Are the American citizens? Yes? Then they are American!

It's really that easy.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

That doesn't matter and for several reasons: first of all it's a matter of the law having enabled this. That's not how a first world country is supposed to act. Secondly, oppinions don't matter actions do. America ist currently still a democracy. The american people as a whole enabled this outcome, with their actions. Thirdly it doesn't change the reality for those affected, you not wanting this makes your country still one of most horrible developed countries to live in.

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 3

It matters. We don't say "all Russians want to takeover Ukraine", we blame Putin and their media. We don't say "all Israelis want to bomb Palestinian civilians". Referring to the entire country because of the actions of a few is completely ignorant.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 5

No but you do say Russia is attacking Ukraine just like you would say America allowed this to happen. America allowed extremist religious beliefs to effect it's laws. We aren't saying all Americans wanted this to happen, we are saying it Americans allowed it to happen through inaction

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

That's not applicable. Putin took control of russia in the year 2000, after 24 years it is easy and obvious to discern responsibility. That is a completely different situation and is seen as such. Look back five weeks ago, can you claim that the general consensus was "Israel is as bad as russia!"? No, no it was not. Also a country can be referred too, by the actions enforced by it's laws. Not by the "action of a few", that phrasing alone is horrid.
