Rick Grimes long lost cousin.

My preference is Union Horse Reserve or Four Roses small batch. Neat

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes, I thought Four Roses was tasty. Haven't tried Union Horse yet.

Friend and I stopped into a fairly well known distillery in Northern Ireland. The lady behind the bar was pouring our beverages and asked, "Are ye lads drinking this properly or will ye want some ice?"

I would have replied with, "Well I wasn't going to do it, but now set them up with ice."

is this a thing you can do? just go to a place where they make the alcohol and drink the alcohol?

11 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yup. I've been to distilleries, breweries and vinyards for tastings. Good times. All in Europe though. Those people are very proud of what they're making and love to share their story and give you a unique experience.

The best drunken night I ever had was because of Buffalo Trace. Local H played it at the end of their show and Scott literally led the entire chanting and clapping crowd out into the street at the end of the song.

I first thought he was Terry Pratchett.

We have 200 bottles at the pub where I work, and I will cut everyone of them with red bull if that is your fancy.

Some people have life figured out.

Didn't they get flooded recently?

11 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Can't remember the brand but there's this Pecan Whiskey that tastes like pecan pie. Dangerous stuff

11 months ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 0

I used that to make drunk yams one chistmas. delicious.

For Christmas and New Years I was serving Tennessee Whiskey Cider, and it was so smooth and tasty that the bottles emptied out real quick.

Just like that sweet apple pie I got in Kentucky .. knocked me on my ass though

11 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

God i miss real apple pie. Can only get that commercial crap now. Dammit I wanna get blind drunk off the fumes

I had a smoky old fashioned in New Vegas one time and it was worth the experience. The Smoky flavor that the torch added was pretty unique. Not something I got to do very often but it's worth trying

11 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

There's a local place we'll go to sometimes that does a "flaming old fashioned". Very tasty.

11 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I haven't been called that since high school

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There's a bar I go to that keeps a block of wood back by the whisky, and I've seen the bartenders take a small cooking torch to it before resting the glass on it. If I drink whisky it's usually neat, but I'll have to give it a try sometime.

Advice only works for good people. Otherwise hes just giving assholes the green light to continue being assholes.

They also have the right to want to live the way they want to live. That doesn't mean they should be free of the consequences if they do, however. That's the thing about freedom: while you have the right to freedom of choice, *any* choice, that choice comes with consequences, good or bad. It's those consequences that should help tell us whether our choices were right and just. The problem with those kinds of assholes is that they want the freedom without the consequences.

don't think this was for assholes

11 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

sure but they're also going to take a napkin blowing in the wind through a dunkin parking lot landing on their shoe as a green light. they'll even take hearing a news story about a study proving that not being an asshole is proven to make you happier healthier and live longer and they'll take that as a green light to continue being an asshole. they're generally unassholeable

They are all encompassing orifices from which neither hope, nor joy, can escape. As if their inability to not only read a room, but understand simple societal queues has formed a gravitational field whose sole function is the destruction of all that is good in this world, because their familial line comes from a long line of people who were dropped on the head when they were sharted out their mothers hind parts.

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You make a solid point. The advice wasnt gonna help with assholes anyway.

11 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

ok, but there are people who are assholes to the core, people who are assholes most of the time, and people who are only assholes sometimes. The latter two groups are way bigger than the first.

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And yet the first is the one that got elected

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

that wouldn't be a problem if the latter two didn't vote for him

Buffalo Trace is dollars to doughnuts the best whiskey out there. Fight me.

11 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I need to drink this whiskey first. Then I’ll be ready

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Lol

What I've heard is that it's good whiskey for the price at MSRP, but it's not remotely good enough to justify the exorbitant prices you see slapped on it. I have not had a chance to verify it for myself due to aforementioned exorbitant prices. I think $65 is the absolute cheapest I've seen it.

11 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Dunno where you are but avg price I see it is $28-35. Highest I have ever seen it retail was $45

11 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I wouldn't fight anybody about the best whiskey. I'm a bourbon girl myself, and I love trying all the different brands and small distilleries out there, but I'm often on a wild turkey budget. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Buffalo Trace is $28 a fifth last I checked.

Also benchmark single barrel is almost the same thing. Same distillery.

11 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

what is that thing he burns

Stereotypes and preconceived notions

11 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

A red herring

11 months ago | Likes 63 Dislikes 1

Its usually tobacco in a little burner used to fill the glass with smoke so it adds a smokey flavor. He went out of his way to start it but not use it as a little wink to the audience about his point.

11 months ago | Likes 176 Dislikes 1

Wood chips

11 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I have similar but for different types of wood shavings. For adding smoke to drinks, usually whiskey.

11 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Checkovs burner

11 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That’s what I thought it was. Very cool, and to his point cool if you think it’s the best way to drink whisky.

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Really? I thought it was usually mesquite or some type of wood. TIL

11 months ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 0

I’ve seen both used :)

11 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

At the bar i worked at we used tobacco Or at least it LOOKED like tobacco coming out of the container it was in. Smelled like it too. Could have been really fine wood shavings or something.

11 months ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 1

often it is flavored pipe tobacco.

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have seen a number of different things used for that purpose. Tobacco, wood chips, some places i have seen just burn a portion of a plank and turn the glass over on it to smoke.

11 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Bar I go to has an oak slat from a decommissioned whiskey barrel they scorch with a torch when making their smoked old fashioned.
