I don't exactly count myself a gun fanatic, but I've never seen a gun of that shape before. The barrel is thinner and longer. Whas ist dast?

Common in older revolvers. Remington Army 1858

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Looks a little like Mal's gun.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Is no one else interested in how much the mission to train Libyan forces weighed?

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I just spat my dinner across the room reading that, thanks :)

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Man what did you do to your NES gun?!

11 years ago | Likes 46 Dislikes 3

Sometimes you get the ducks, sometimes the ducks get you.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Demons are coming for you now OP! RUN!

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Holy shit I also found this while duck hunting yesterday !!!

11 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Any ID on the model and manufacturer?

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Pardon me, Sir, you seemed to have forgotten obligatory cat tax. Or puppy, if no kitten is available. Thank you kindly.

You monster, you took that from its home, got your smell over it, the mother will never take it back now.

11 years ago | Likes 306 Dislikes 3

You are my favourite thing.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This poor creature is well past its golden years. Letting it grow old in caring hands is the best option it could have at this point.

11 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

I read this as dick hunting at first, thought you had a very strange picking up dudes process

Remington 1858 Navy, nice find man

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You cleaned it? That's 90% of the value giys who collect these things like 'em old like ' em dirty.... The best I can do is $10...

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

Sorry, but my first thought was, "wow you found a turd in the shape of a gun."

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That's a strange duck.

11 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 2

I'm not entirely sure it's a duck at all.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Damn! You beat me to it. Have an upvote.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

the duck is so metal

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Ummm, where are you going duck hunting?

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's worth $5.

11 years ago | Likes 46 Dislikes 2

I can go as high as $3.50

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Actually, it probably is worth about $5. I wouldn't dare try and fire that thing. It's in relic condition. Practically worthless. Donate it.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

IT BELONGS IN A MUSEUM

11 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

Pretty sure its not really an old gun....Old guns dont usually say Black Powder Only....Reproductions do...

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I WAS NAMED AFTER THE DOG!!

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

SO DO YOU!

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Damn, good job on the cleanup.

11 years ago | Likes 1629 Dislikes 4

He really knows how to clean a shaft

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm glad you said that or I would have simply skipped what I thought was 10 more pic of the rusty gun !

11 years ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 1

Seriously, I assumed it was a rusted out hunka-junk and would have been afraid cleaning it would result in a pile of rust flakes.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I can do maybe ten bucks, you cleaned it, collectors want it as is

11 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Was expecting another electrolysis bath.

11 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Bang up job* you missed out on that one.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'll never forgive myself.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thanks. I was about to skip it after seeing 10 photos of so many angles.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I was surprised. I thought it was just rust holding it together.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's a Remington Model 1858. They stopped producing these in 1875 !

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Except replicas that they still produce to this day...

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

except now it's worthless.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I.... I washed my dishes today.

11 years ago | Likes 139 Dislikes 0

Liar.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I did half a load of laundry. Shit can fold itself.

11 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

I woke up.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I showered.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I took a sensational dump

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I didn't even do that, I clipped my right toenails earlier and got bored so I took a nap. Still haven't cut my left ones.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

MY GOD, MAN, ARE YOU MAD

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

i took a shower today... no i didn't thats a lie...

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Better luck tomorrow, mate.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

damn, good job on the cleanup.

11 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Hey, thanks. I'm a real champ.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I can't be the only one that read that as dick hunting

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

What, isn't it??

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You aren't.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's an old Remington, but judging on how good of condition it still is for just lying out there, it's probably a reproduction.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

It appears to be a brass frame, they make repros with brass frames but original Remingtons never had brass frames. Plus grips aren't rotted.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I strongly recommend, OP, that you don't do any more cleaning yourself, and hand it over to a professional, seeing as it looks pretty intact

11 years ago | Likes 156 Dislikes 8

Points for finding that I honestly thought it was a Uberti replica.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Why? Curious.

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Nvm. I googled about gun restoration and found out why and yeah, I agree.

11 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Well, why then?

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Electrolysis baths remove rust without actually removing metal that is part of the gun. Some even use hot/cold oil and salt baths. (2)

11 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

It seems that in this picture he is trying to remove rust by scrubbing. Doing that removes some metal that is actually part of the gun. (1)

11 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

It almost looks like it could be put back into service eh. Proper antique restoration and it could maybe fire?

11 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 1

I would recommend against this till the metal is checked out.

11 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Agreed. If the barrel has been compromised by rust corrosion, that could very dangerous to try to fire without taking an x-ray first.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Highly, highly doubtful after that much corrosion, but possible. It would need extensive professional gunsmith examination.

i play Duck Hunt (name of character in game) on Smash Bros. 3ds. Come at me

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Did someone say discarded murder weapon?

11 years ago | Likes 1711 Dislikes 13

My thoughts exactly

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Best I can do is $10

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Modern Black Powder replicas aren't commonly used in murders. If this were from the 1800's it wouldn't likely be as good a shape.

11 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 1

It says "Black Powder Only" on the barrel. It's definitely a replica.

11 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Yes, I think you did.

11 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 1

Let me get my buddy down here who is is an expert on discarded murder weapons so we know what we're dealing with here.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

If that's a murder weapon, time has taken revenge and killed the killer.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Nope, Logan did some bad things in the 19th.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Wolverine was the most famous immortal I could think of.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Keanu Reeves?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

arent you supposed to drop those at the police station so you dont get accused of murder at some unlucky point in life?

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Who throws away a perfectly good murder weapon?! They don't grow on trees you know.

11 years ago | Likes 67 Dislikes 0

Unless you use a branch.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Buffy disagrees!

11 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

They do in America

11 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 2

Guns aren't the only murder weapon out there, you know...

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Lynching trees killed a lot of people back then.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fair enough, but I was primarily thinking knives and other sharp objects

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You've never killed anyone with a stick before?

11 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Yep a murder weapon from 1875.

11 years ago | Likes 360 Dislikes 2

Well... the victim would be dead by now anyway.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

1858 probably.

11 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Yeah, i couldn't find the exact model so i went with the remington 1875 but you're right it is indeed the 1858.

11 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

I thought it looked like the 1851 Colt Navy issued revolver myself.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Prior to that, weapons for used for healing

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

All weapons from the 19th century were murder weapons

11 years ago | Likes 154 Dislikes 2

in big contrast to todays "Healing" weapons! :D

I'm purple! That means I'm neutral!

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Or as Americans like to call them "freedom" weapons

11 years ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 6

Defensive weapon with first strike capability is the official term, I shit you not.

11 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 1

Hey, to be fair, not all weapons are intended to kill but just to injure.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

so you found it! :D

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

dun dun, dun ts!

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

guns from the 19th century did not say "black powder only" on the barrel. somebody lost a reproduction. Keep cleaning op. still cool.

11 years ago | Likes 45 Dislikes 1

In which pic did you see that?

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Ah, so it's pretty obvious on PC. I was on mobile earlier; damn near impossible to see that detail.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

so which pic is it? I don't see anything

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Any of the last full photos, on the barrel - it's very fine and somewhat obscured.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Last two pictures. The two pictures before them say 'Made in ???'

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Oh, I see now. Thanks

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Made in Italy, this is likely a Uberti replica
