I got it for free in '08. Actually, I first had a physical copy that my dad handed down to me after he beat it a few weeks after launch.

What did GOTY add? There was no DLC or anything, and the expansion packs came out well after OP bought the game.
Team Fortress Classic. Bear in mind this is also Australia, where games are always freakishly expensive.
GOTY also included new multiplayer gamemodes and maps.

We did. It varied by state and was combined into the price on the receipt. The GST replaced sales taxes and is now printed on the receipt.
