I'm really concerned that I've gone all my life not realizing I have a dic in my back..

10 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Uh yeah. No.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I had the worst back, and sometimes still do. But honestly what made the bad pain go away was trying to not be stressed out!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"Intervertebral dics"

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

worked in construction. Saw bad form all day. They laughed at my "weird" proper lifting techniques. They all have bad backs now. Oh well.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Saving for later

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Bookmarked it myself....it's worth a try.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Or, just chop off my head. No more pain

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

No brain, no pain. :p

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"intervertebral dics."

10 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

and OP takes 23 of them in the back

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My friend has spina bifida and scoliosis, I don't think this will help

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

How do you spend 200 million days in bed per year, asking for a friend

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

How-to help your back: Do Yoga. Who knew?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is such a big repost, you even kept the typo in the title.

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Also physical therapists (newer generations) are becoming amazing at resolving back pain

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fake. There's not even 200 million days in one year.

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Back pain isn't just due to tight muscles & poor lifting techniques, there are myriad reasons that may cause it, just read all the comments

Source: I am a physical therapist

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not to mention back pain referred from non-musculoskeletal problems!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Scoliosis, sciatica, herniated disc, facet dysfunction, spondylitis, spondylolysthesis, to name a few. These all require different treatment

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

5 minutes For complete relief. As a physical therapist, lol.

10 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Are you meaning to tell me you can't undo 20 years of abuse and disuse of my hips and ankles to fix my back pain in 5 minutes? Psh, weak

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I've seriously injured my back and I can't emphasize enough how important it is to build up your core strength and sleep in a good bed.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Thissss. Especially if you work in a place where you move around or lift things a lot. Physical therapy made me exercise my core and (1/2)

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

the pain really went away!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Pulled a muscle in my lower back yesterday (apparently in my sleep somehow...) This is way too relevant but I won't argue with good timing!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Never argue with good timing.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Step 1: Remove back.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Ow, my backpain pain!

10 years ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 0

*backfat pain

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Make sure to keep up with these exercises, or you'll have your backpain pain back!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

you know your back is fucked up when your back pain has a back pain

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Yo dawg

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Honestly, after 10 + years of back pain... Correcting my posture combined with exercise worked best. It's not easy to do, of course.

10 years ago | Likes 60 Dislikes 1

I'm just curious: did anything change in your life at the time your backpain got better too? :) I'm a physiotherapist and curious.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I went to see a physiotherapist for a shoulder injury. She took one look at my posture and said I needed more than just shoulder rehab.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Anybody looking to test there posture try sitting up straight on the edge of your chair without back support. You probably won't last long

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I'll tell you what else on my body is 17.3 inches long ;) ....The span of leg between my knee and ankle.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

+1 for backpain pain

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is lacking a lot of important details.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

You know what really helps back pain, if you luck my butthole

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Umm, yeah... I don't any of those exercises are gonna fix my degenerated discs or damaged facet joint.

10 years ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 9

There are nutritional supplements that can help

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You know what will. Strengthening your core, and losing some weight. Somtimes is caused by your back workin where you're core should be.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

doubt*

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Have you ever tried physical therapy?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

After a snowboarding accident I have almost all of the problems that a man can have with his back. Herniated discs, protrusions, damaged

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

facets, fractions, tumors... Sometimes is really hard, so I just want to say to you don't give up. May be ACADIA or bioprinting will help.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But this is a long way off... Still keep hope alive. Without it is worse...

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not with that attitude

10 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 1

I agree, having some faith even as small as a mustard seed helps.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Faith and positive thinking might be even more important than doing exercises. Negative thoughts and low satisfaction in the work place is b

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Unfortunately, mine ran out years ago.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Heavy dead lifts all the way

10 years ago | Likes 414 Dislikes 5

oyeah! all that 285 with round back

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My favorite exercise. Back day is best day. AMIRITE?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

LEG DAY ALL THE WAY

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Don't START heavy! Good grief.

10 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Rephrase that to heavy for you

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

3 lifts in and I found myself yelling at the monitor "just stop you sick bastard!"

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If you don't have a fucked up knee.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Snatch grip deads target the back even better

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Different deadlift forms are better for targeting different areas, not just "the back." Snatch grip is better for lat activation.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Right, I was just generalizing. In a lifting forum everything gets quite a bit more specific. What I mean to say is

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

See, a noobie like me isn't sure if you're kidding or not.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It actually does help, provided you don't start heavy and you use proper technique. Strengthening the muscles that support your spine 1/2

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not kidding, start with weights you can manage in good form and work your way up.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

2/2 is always a good idea.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

THIS

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Until you place your foot wrong and your back snaps. Seems unnecessary to strain the whole vertebrae just to train the lower back muscles.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 9

It does a lot more than just back, so it's worthwhile IMO. If you're lifting suitable weight with proper form you should be fine.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Dead lift to workouts is the kale to vegetables.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

(2) I've heard developing glutes / hamstrings can also help alleviate back pain (in which case deadlifts are even better)

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It doesn't strain the vertebrae. It works the hamstring, lower back, mid back, upper back, traps and lats. It is one of the BEST lifts.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Deadlifts are so much more than lower back exercises. It's a full compound movement, and hits your entire body if you're doing them right.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If you're doing them right. It seems to be one of those exercise that a lot of people do wrong

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As a physical therapist, for god's sake please have someone who knows what they're doing train you properly first

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

As a strength coach, I thank you for pointing that out.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

@hedon: apply directly to the forehead.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Public service anouncement: if you are feeling deadlifts more in your lower back than you are your butt, you're doing it wrong.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Considering most people's lower backs are one of the least undeveloped muscle groups, that's not necessarily true for most people.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I feel it most in my lower back, then hamstrings, then glutes. It's also a hell of a workout for forearms because of the weight.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'll have to respectfully disagree mainly because i was referencing for novice lifters, but I don't want to talk about work :)

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I meant to say most undeveloped. Whoops!

I think those are called trap bars, not all gyms have them

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

that's impressive

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

well done! how much is it? :D

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

230lbs

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I managed to lift 2 donuts into my mouth at once, beat that.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Don't forget to rotate some good mornings into the workout.

10 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

Is this another name for back extensions? I do those on an incline with a kettlebell.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Similar, but not the same. Good mornings are done standing with minimal or no bend in knees. Good back and hamstring workout

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I agree but I never tell people to do good mornings because most people are far too weak to do them correctly

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Good mornings are for pussies and girls.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Two guys I know wrecked their backs with dead lifts and had to stop their weight lifting hobby.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Plain and simple: they weren't doing it right. Most likely lifting with their back as well. Spine should be neutral, not rounded.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Dunno. Both lifted since teenagers and took part in national and local competitions every now and then.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hard to tell because I can't see their form/techniques/habits, but if they've been competing thenn... I could be wrong.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Any for upper back pain??????????? :)

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

pull the knife out

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Did you mean upper backpain pain?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes, I've like a trapped nerve which seems to be giving me stomach pains the last 4 years. I feel like an old man at times, I'm only 22!!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But yeah whatever it is I could do with streches for my upper back/shoulder blades area

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh no! I'm sorry, I was making a bad joke referencing the title, but I'm really sorry that you're suffering.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is surgery not a possibility?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hahahah sorry I only realised now that you mention it!!! I've had a few MRIs and they've come back clean apparently, I've had surgery on 1/2

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My knee twice and that never fixed it so I've given up on my countries (Ireland) surgical staff haha back surgery is risky anyway! 2/2

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

TIL OP has 23 intervertebral dicks in his back

I imagined a bunch of middle school kids in a class giggling and that one kid raises his hand and goes "Excuse me, Miss...how many dicks?"

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Haha look at all dem dicks
