Yeah but Return of Jafar has "You're only second rate."

The carpet in Aladdin was one of the first computer-animated characters in a feature film. Clearly not a repeated technique for the sequel.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

You can't fucking compare the CGI carpet from the first movie with a hand-drawn one in the sequel.

Direct to video sequels are what the used to train new animators.

Thread count: "six"

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I never noticed. I liked both

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

It's a shame actually. Many of the Disney clasics Could have had fantastic sequels instead of just a cheap straight to VHS.

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

I liked the sequel to The Little Mermaid somewhat.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

"Meh, the little shits will watch it anyway"

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I hate this.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I can accept the Aladdin one because it's just like the TV series, which I liked.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I think the Aladdin sequels were the really rare "these aren't half bad" exception in the Disney sequel era. Most were awful.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just Disney-sequel-cash-grabs taking advantage of little children. Who needs quality when the movie name is enough to make mommy spend $$$?

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I loved return of Jafar. Legit cried as a kid when genie appeared.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

I loved as a kid too!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Have you ever looked at the awful Balto sequels? Cringeworthy animation

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This is pretty painful at times, but some of the stuff in the sequels can be amazing. I'm looking at the second Lion King movie.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Return of Jafar was going to be a pilot for the Aladdin TV show, much like there was for DuckTales, TaleSpin, and Gargoyles.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Interesting. I actually really liked that movie as a kid.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

just like going from Naruto to Shipuden

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

It’s called a budget and it’s going to set by the expected return. More detail = more time = more money needed for production

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That is what direct to video sequels get you. It is pretty classic Disney. Make a hit movie, follow it up as fast as possible to capitalize.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That's the difference between" we have a good story/idea" and "how can we can in on this brand/trend"

8 years ago | Likes 208 Dislikes 3

I don't think that was the case with hunchback...

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's more one hasa $20mil budget and the other has about $3.50

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Return of Jafar had a budget less than $5 million, but made $150 million in profits.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

He meant "cash in."

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

I didnt know either one had sequels.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Tbh I liked the sequel for the Lion King. It was slightly different in style but still nice.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Did you know: Robin Williams did not play the Genie in Return of Jafar because Disney broke a promise not to use his voice for commercials.

8 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 1

The guy who replaced Robin as the VA is the guy that voices Homer Simpson.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Pretty sure he returned for King of Thieves though.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

He did.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The second atlantis movie was terrible in writing, acting, and quality

8 years ago | Likes 64 Dislikes 0

They made a second Atlantis movie??

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

We don't talk about the sequel.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

no, they didn't, the first movie is all there is, don't look for anything beyond it

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

It was very obviously a pitch for a TV show that got turned down, and shoved together into a movie

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Absofuckinglutely. It wasn't even a movie. It was like 4 short stories shoved in one movie.

8 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 2

Disney tries to make shows from movies. When it doesn't work, they turn it into a shitty movie

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

1) I think that's because it was supposed to be a proof of concept for the TV show that never got off the ground. So they just turned the

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

2) first three episodes into a direct to to video movie.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

With no voice actors from the original

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Oh right I forgot about that. But without Michael J Fox, production was probably a lot less....shaky.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Are those aladins small ass feet in that last pick?

8 years ago | Likes 138 Dislikes 1

You left out the ‘D.’

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No, those are Jasmine’s. Happens during the song number “Forget About Love.”

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Aladin doesnt wear shoes. Thats the Sulton.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

His feet ain't small, his pants are gigantic

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The sultans

8 years ago | Likes 65 Dislikes 0

What are those?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hey! They may smell, but ass-feet is taking it too far!

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

I’m having a hard time thinking of good Disney’s sequels (not counting Pixar).

8 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 2

Honestly, little mermaid 2 wasn't bad.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The Fox And The Hound sequel is pretty cute.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I liked Lady and the Tramp II a lot as a kid, I don't remember what the animation quality on it was though. Also Bambi was aight

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Aladin 3 was pretty good.

8 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

Jaffar needs glasses?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

i highly enjoyed Aladin 3, i think i watched it more than the original.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Mainly because it added some background to the characters and gave some answers about the story. RoJ was just a cash grab IMO.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Was 3 the prince of thieves?

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Yes

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Oh good. I thought it was good, but I was afraid it was just a matter of me being a stupid kid.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

The Rescuers Down Under is great, and the rare sequel that's much better than the first https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gj043f05C1U

8 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

Down Under was made by an A team, hence its quality.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Also had the great George C. Scott (Patton) as the villain. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wfQTabN7LIQ

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

the ungodly disappointment watching the first one finally and realizing there was no Frank or Cody or Marahute in it is a scar on my memory.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

i was eventually able to appreciate it as its own movie, but that was probably my first big WTF moment as a kid.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The Lion King sequels weren't bad. But then again, I haven't seen them since I was a kid so I might be wrong.

8 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 0

I thought it was cringey. Thats just me though

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

I still enjoyed Lion King 1 1/2 after rewatching it recently. Can't think of any others

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

LK was Hamlet, LKII was Romeo and Juliet, and LK 1-1/2 was Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Fuck me. It's taken me this long to realize LKII was Romeo and Juliet? I know the Hamlet comparison but damn.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Direct to video sequels of that era were produced by "Walt Disney Television Animation" thus the lower production quality.

8 years ago | Likes 775 Dislikes 0

Damn, I always wondered why Atlantis Milo's Return looked super cheap compared to the original.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Also, the production schedule on Aladdin was 5 years where the sequels was 2.

8 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 1

You mean Straight To DVD or STDVD for short.

8 years ago | Likes 148 Dislikes 12

STDVD sounds like a redundant way of saying you've got a warty dick

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Bad marketing. Not enough repeated letters in the name to be catchy, so it's being replaced with HHDDVVDDBVD.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Everybody knows this year's blu ray, is going to be Red-Ray! Heh eh.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

VHS at the time, I think..

8 years ago | Likes 86 Dislikes 1

What's that whooshing noise?

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 12

The potato that flew over the moon

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

VDHS can be the same joke

8 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 2

Gosh darn.. There was a joke in there.. Dammy!!
