Reminds me that of those wind up flipper things from Mario 64 that would throw you high in the air and were 100% unavoidable

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What's wrong with the normal way of doing it?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hey, I grew up in Crosby. Probably the first time I've ever seen it mentioned randomly online.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Same here and I live here now - this is a few hundred metres away

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

liverpool? how has that thing not been flipped over and set on fire?

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

The robot or the car?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

can it lift an EV? because EVs are generally much heavier

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

How does it trigger the blinkies?

I binge watched a YT channel called GTOger. A small company with a private parking lot. The shenanigans of people getting towed, the commentary and the musical effects are HILARIOUS.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Can’t wait til it gets some battlebots mods to just start flipping cars

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How did it activate the blinkers? Unless the driver was there?

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Car alarm going off?

Roit good point, they all are a bit different I guess.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Should not have parked there. O.o

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

I'd like to see that more often, especially at supermarkets. Number of people parking in disabled parking spots is too damn high!

I believe that is called Battlebots, formerly known as Robot Wars.

Battlebots is the US version of Robot Wars, they were both produced simultaneously.

I want to see this robot combined with a catapult. Goes under car. Lifts car. Moves to open area with car. Yeets car.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Would be a lot of work with a catapult. Less work with a trebuchet...

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I want to see this robot given the ability to suplex a car straight into a cuber. I don't actually want that to happen to anyone's car (not even asshats), I just want to watch Adam Savage design and build it.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nah dude, that's Jamie's thing. Jamie's WAY more technically and mechanically inclined. He made a vending robot for a commercial once, and>

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

now he's designing and making a fire-rescue vehicle out of an old tank/APC?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So does it move the car somewhere else, or just go down the road and yeet it into a canal?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Onto a flatbed, easier than needing a hiab crane on the truck and lifting it.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This only works because they don’t have Florida Man in Liverpool…

2 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 3

I lived in Liverpool for 6 months, in one of the roughest parts. The local park had a mini-moto gang. I saw a guy with a balaclava on hit a cctv camera pole with a sledgehammer for 30 minutes before he realised someone had already stolen the camera. My car got broken into twice then stolen and the police forced me to buy the wreck back from them for twice what I bought the car for. There are off licenses that are just barred windows in random walls. Liverpool is a bit Florida. Almost as bad.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Florida men are everywhere. You just hear about the ones in Florida more often because of laws regarding crime reporting.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes, but technically no. I reckon a scal could take a Florida man

Showing your ignorance. That's a London/southern accent your mimicking (apart from, what I assume is "top of the morning to you", which is widely considered Irish). Liverpudlians have an incredibly distinctive accent that is recognisable anywhere in the UK.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The Florida man doesn't stand a chance. Even if he pulled a gun, the scally would pull a Crocodile Dundee and say "Call that a gun?"

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Can confirm. Most scoucers have a Paul Hogan tucked down the front of their shellsuit bottoms.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Not when Florida man already has his gun out to shoot the robot.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm a tow operator. This is an interesting idea, but honestly takes SO much longer than a normal wheel lift with dollies. The full set-up time to get a car loaded on this, and then driven to a flatbed. I could be hooked up and gone. These guys must be paid per hour, not per call. Strictly from an efficiency standpoint, this seems frivolous and slow.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

In the crowded tight streets of liverpool that's not quite true. This drives down, lifts, drives back up on the truck. Done.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Just thinking about the time they towed my car as "abandoned" because it didn't have any wheels on it. Because my wheels had just been stolen an hour before. They just dragged it on the brake discs right up onto a flatbed. So nice of them. Definitely didn't fuck anything up.

It's manually operated by a human:

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Is that a Range Rover? so did it park there or did it just break down?

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Both.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The Range Rover had gearbox damage and couldn't be loaded the regular way. This was recorded in 2018.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

So it's just towing with extra steps....

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Exactly my thought lol

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Who is operating illegally because it’s illegal to tow a vehicle displaying a disabled badge. Which that one is.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 18

It's illegal to tow a blue badge in a handicap space. That car is parked on a double yellow. Even if they have a blue badge, which I don't see, they can only park there for 3 hours. And yes, a blue badge can be towed if it is parked illegally

2 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 1

where is the badge? & is it illegal to tow an illegally parked car? im assuming the double yellow line by the curb & sat they are parked on a corner & partially blocking the roadway that it's illegal

2 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

When it turns around you can see a blue rectangle on the dashboard, they are used in the UK by disabled drivers and/or passengers.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I should point out that I meant in the original post, not the reply video of a different car in a different space.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Overstayed, or just no handicapped parking permit. I kind of feel like there shouldn't be a strict time limit on handicapped parking usage for those who need them.

2 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

overstayed, you can see the blue badge on the dashboard

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

When you use the “timer”, it’s 3 hours. Car parks and chargeable parking bays are whatever the restrictions are, so for however long you’ve paid for. Car looks like it has a permit, the blue thing on the dash. Bear in mind, UK disabled permits aren’t necessarily for the driver.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

US disabled placards/decals look very different. Did not recognize the UK one. But we also can get them if a vehicle is used to transport a disabled person frequently.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

UK ones are for the person, so you get an ID permit and a “clock” to show when you arrived, the permit holder can use it in any vehicle as long as they get out.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is so cool. Does the robot has enough weight on the back to handle heavier cars? I mean that Volvo certainly isn't light, but pretty sure there are bigger and heavier cars/trucks than that.

2 years ago | Likes 358 Dislikes 5

Plus, the bulk of the weight is with the engine in front, so that shifts the center of gravity a lot.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"Trucks" is really only an obsession Americans have, and the few remaining ameriphiles.

2 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

There's companion robot with cutting torch to chunk the offending car into more manageable sizes.

Yeah us Americans are like “But can it pick up some douches GMC Yukon Denali?”

2 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

"Yeah so this Escalade is about a mile long and weighs a literal stupid, so that might be outside the design spec"

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

True, most cars that are parked for long enough are lighter by 4 wheels. The replacement bricks aren't attached, so don't add to the weight.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We're talking European cars, so, no?

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

If it's battery operated I guarantee that things heavy as hell a lot of Fork trucks are battery operated and I can tell you right now I would rather get run over by a station wagon than a Ford truck this battery operated

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Lol. Americans.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Odd choice to pick them up from the back. Better if they picked them up from the front as most cars have the engine in the front and are front heavy.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Let’s find out!

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This reminds me. A pushback at the airport to move the planes around weighs 55 tons.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Based on the spec @ouroborus777 posted, it looks like it is supposed to lift from the front, so the engine/weight is over the caterpillars.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

These are some of the heaviest cars in Europe/UK. I mean; I once saw a Hummer. Once. In my now 41 years.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Even in the USA they’re still not a common sight, I don’t think I’ve ever seen the full size h1 in person, just this one yellow h2 that someone somehow has owned and maintained all these years

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

H1 isn't even road-legal in much of the EU because our streets are too narrow for that monstrosity.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Not a robot. Remote control- operator is just out of frame on RH side in yellow jacket, briefly seen.

2 years ago | Likes 119 Dislikes 29

Oh shush, let us believe the robot is stealing cars from dickbags that park in handicapped spots

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Good eye mate!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Nice spot of the yellow jacket person. I did not see that at all.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So, a robot then

2 years ago | Likes 67 Dislikes 4

Probably not. It's only a robot if it can do autonomous pre-programmed actions, regardless of whether controlled or not.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

What nenya said. Also it being a robot/ not robot had nothing to do with the question about weight balance

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

That's a robot... You're attempting to disambiguate from an autonomous robot. You're being pedantic but you didn't know exactly what about.

2 years ago | Likes 53 Dislikes 9

Definition of robot; look it up. “Resembles living creature” https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/robot then there is “device that automatically performs complicated, often repetitive tasks” automatic shouldn’t need operator.

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 3

Having intelligence means knowing robot means humanoid automaton... Having wisdom is knowing people use words wrong all the time and still convey their message correctly.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Here is your banana and tomato fruit salad...

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Wouldn't it need to be able to do at least one autonomous task without direction to be considered a robot? Even the semi-autonomous robots should be able to do at least one task, otherwise a forklift is a robot. A car with ABS is a robot. An RC toy is a robot. What if the RC operator was in a cabin on the vehicle, piloting it from there. Would we say he's piloting a robot? In that case, would there even be a difference between this and a forklift?

2 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 2

That's what I was thinking too. In my opinion it's not a robot, it's a fully remote-controlled vehicle that doesn't have any autonomous funtions. (A self-driving car on the other hand absolutely is a robot.)

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Neat, my garage door opener is a robot.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

No I'm the bigger pedant!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well, the UK doesn't boast F150s or Ridgelines as much as the US, so probably less of an issue than it would be in the states.
