The future was now.

That, I say that there is slicker than snot on a glass doorknob.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Holy fuck that is awesome

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think the lesson here is that IBM did a poor job at meeting these, because like many of you I have never seen one either abd they are cool

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They were the #1 seller in 95 but soon after, bigger screens became feasible so butterflies were no longer needed.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have one of those!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ok, why did they stop making these!?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They broke really easily, either due to sticky mechanisms or users trying to see if they can close the lid before the keys retracted.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

& the clit-mouse!

Looks like a German automotive engineer has designed it, judging from the ex tech comments.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

All that extra engineering just to gain 1 & 1/2 more columns of keys XD

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That title must be a typo, cause that keyboard is living in 3017

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

I was looking for specifically this. Lol

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Good old IBMs!!!! Before Lenovo took over

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's a really cool solution to the issue of keyboards being limited by screen size and therefore often compressed and hard to type on

8 years ago | Likes 85 Dislikes 1

One of the main cons with that would be more moving parts to look after, but then again I don't use my laptop like some goddamn caveman

8 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 2

I tend to be pretty hard on my electronics, this super cool feature would work for about ten minutes in my care.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Using it for Google earth to track caribou migrations?

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

ah, i miss my company Stinkpad. They replaced it with a Smell.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The “butterfly” keyboard. Used one for years. Mechanically fragile - a solid bump on the corner and you can’t close the laptop.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I was gonna say... Because one was brought into the shop I worked at and it didn't have that.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

IBM ThinkPad 701c

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Some version of Lenovo think pad?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

IBM ThinkPad 701c

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm gonna guess IBM, dunno why, something about the lid seems to make me think this ;)

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

This is before Lenovo bought it, this is straight IBM ingenuity

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And now they all have fucking chicklets.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That is begging for kali linux

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

yo its got the fuckin nipple mouse too

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Are you referring to the clit mouse?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But where's the touch pad?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You see that little red nubbin in the keyboard? That's your mouse. Try not to think of it as your laptop's clitoris.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I know but like every old laptop I ever saw had that and a touch pad lol.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I love my thinkbricks! They're like the Mercedes 300d of computers. They get beat to hell and just keep happily doing their thing.

8 years ago | Likes 71 Dislikes 1

If you look at images from ISS (or better yet, walk through it in google maps), you'll see the space station is full of Thinkpads.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"Thinkbricks". *chuckles*

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thinkpad= thinkbricks = Mercedes 300D. Never have any analogies been more accurate.

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Still buying them after IBM sold off to Lenovo. The T series is still solid (just don't get the thin/light model).

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Agreed carbon-bad Mac imitation, gives up the user serviceability which is half the ThinkPad awesome. P50+P70 however - swoon!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What model is that thin light model? Carbon?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The carbon and yoga models. We have both at work. For just a few mm more the T series is worth it.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So the carbon or yoga cant stand up to some falls/ hits? I have the carbon ._.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not sure about the yoga since I haven't used one. The carbon was tough, full cup of hot tea spilled on it+dropped it loads. Worked fine.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Seriously. It's the only kind of laptop my dad and husband use. Both use their computers a lot and they're the only computers they've /1

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

found that can hold up.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

What's it like to have two dad's?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Lots of dad jokes and socks worn with sandals.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sounds pretty solid.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Was saying weddings with one just a few years ago. Called mine Bruce Willis, cause it was unbreakable.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You married your laptop?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Deejaying weddings is what I meant lol.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I drove away with mine on the roof of my car once, only damage was the battery which still worked but didn't latch. Bastards are tough.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's like those original brick Nokia phones.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thinkpads man. Love them. It's all about the keyboards.

8 years ago | Likes 201 Dislikes 3

I got my first ThinkPad after apple decided to flatten their keyboards. Best typing experience ever.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Used to be good, they're a fucking nightmare and pieces of junk now. Especially after the Chinese took over and installed those backdoors

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And also about the mouse nubbin that gave you blisters.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Except the newish x1s where the keyboard doesnt connect well and or physically falls off all the fucking time.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I thought it was all about the Pentiums?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

ITS ALL ABOUT THE PENTIUMS, YEAHHHHHHHH!!!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm still using my T420. I love it.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Love the placement of the Fn button. And by that I mean I hate it and I'll never buy a Thinkpad as a result.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You can swap it in the bios, but really out didn't take long to get used to. They're great laptops. Source: I repair them

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I believe you can swap it with Ctrl in the BIOS.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Eh, they're overrated. I don't expect mechanical keyboards on laptops, but ThinkPads are generally pretty mushy and meh.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 6

Thanks for the heads up. They used to have nice keyboards and I was thinking about buying a ThinkPad when it will be time to upgrade.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

When Lenovo got them they traded quality for features. I still like mine, but it's not the same feeling as the old IBM I had.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm 50 years old and I have never seen one of those! That is seriously cool AF!

8 years ago | Likes 820 Dislikes 7

49 and I used to own one. Great stuff, very portable. Keys like a real one. As with all ThinkPads I adored the TrackPoint. And hated it.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 103 Dislikes 0

Used to have a thinkpad that looked exactly like that, but sadly no transformer keyboard. Laptop sucked, but wouldve loved that feature

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I had seen a couple of these at my old job, and could not understand why it never took off !

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Extra thickness

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"Thicc" wasn't considered a good thing back in the 80s and 90s, but is really popular now. ;)

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm 58 yrs old and I owned one of those! Git Gud AF, whippersnapper!

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

That does it! We need to start an Old Farts Club up in this joint!

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I treat Imgur like an Old Farts Club anyway. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

55 here and worked at Dell and never seen one

8 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

Well, there was always the Dell Axim X30 keyboard if that counts for anything.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

70 yo, didn't ever want one because no upgrading possible

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

bet you wish you could upgrade your body

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Do all right, no real complaints

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

coo

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 338 Dislikes 4

"Yeah huh huh, whatever. Now https://imgur.com/VRuqGsO "~ Other 50 year olds probably

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's not 50.... That's 70!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

u lucky sir you're halfway there

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have never seen someone comment on a 50 year old using "cool AF!". That is seriously cool AF!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We were using Cool AF! Years before you were born.

8 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 0

It was a trend, now it's an art form.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

The future is now old man!!!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm 43 and only started reading it in the past decade. Its popularity as an expression has drastically increased.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You must be fun at parties.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Apparently not if I haven't been hearing all the cool lingo until decades later.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I just happen to be a COOL AF 50yr old!

8 years ago | Likes 174 Dislikes 1

I get the feeling some COOL AF parent recently seen his kid write COOL AF.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nahhh... My sons just hung around me too damn long! They are in CO now..21 & 26.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

You really think someone would lie to complete strangers in a non personalized communication format?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's working. Even that would be a nice trick, so they have my +1. And so do you ????
