That dad would make a dope Garp.

This is what good dads do.

Hey look, an Actual alpha man! Holy shit, they do exist.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's why I do things for my kid too, it's not what I get out of it, it's their happiness that makes me happy.

Best dad energy there!

From one dad to another. This is the way.

This is how you be a role model. You don't need to be a parent, just a responsible adult with a good attitude. My niece, who just turned 22 yesterday, was telling me about how she remembers all the sleep overs she would have with me and my ex. We'd take them out to the store for little treats, dress up in costumes, and have little tea parties with her and her sister. Sixteen years later, and those are her favorite childhood memories. It doesn't take much to make a huge change in someone's life.

Fuck yeah

The one thing missing from this is a few words from his daughter so that we can all share her happiness. Other than that, wholesome post is wholesome.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Hell yeah.

Good dad! But, she may have gotten that Tizzy from ye! As a tizzied father, mine def got it from me.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That's not just a good dad, that's a good friend.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Plus it looks like she had him dress up as Red Haired Shanks (going by the wig and triple eye scar anyway) who is objectively one of the coolest and strongest mfs in the whole show. Which shows how much she appreciates him, imo.

This is how you parent

He is a true Nakama

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I've always said that One Piece is the best show for cosplaying since it has every single body type.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

and 99.9% of them are luffy

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In his defense I don't think even One Piece fans can probably explain who Shanks is without having to go down a convoluted rabbit hole

1 year ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Yeah the dad knows shanks just as much as we do, unless you read recent chapters but even then

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Good dad. But Shanks? The dude is built for doing Rayleigh!

1 year ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Maybe the daughter is dressed as Luffy and just sees him as Shanks? I don't know, I couldn't make out a lot from the clip.

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

She's dressed as Uta, Shank's adopted daughter from Film Red.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Was thinking Garp, honestly, but the glasses definitely could do for Rayleigh.

"Coos Play? What the heck is 'coos play?'"

I look over at my coworker, he's pushing 60, big Minnesota born guy, former hockey player.

"Cos-play. People dress up as characters from things they like. It's more involved than Halloween costumes..."

"Oh, 'costume play.' I guess that makes sense."

.....wait what, that's what it stands for? Clearly I havent given this any thought before

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

here's a coo playing:

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Squee! What is that? Is that a fuzzy cow?

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"Coos play??? If I wanted to watch raccoons play! I would throw my garbage on the yard!"

1 year ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Why did I read that with an Bostonian accent?!

I hope he gets some good friends from those conventions. This is a man who deserves it :)

Really nice of him, seen some parents over the years at cons but they always look like they would literally want to do anything else but be there.

1 year ago | Likes 138 Dislikes 3

Bottomed up bores…

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 22

As a convention vendor sometimes I get these, other times I get parents who lean all the way in and get into the spirit of it even harder than the (shy) teen they're chaperoning.

1 year ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Not exactly a parent, but I occasionally accompany my partner and his son to various conventions. Sometimes they're so awe-struck that I'll go introduce myself to whoever it is and then pull the boys in to introduce, ask for a picture, etc 😆. I rarely know or care who we're talking to, but I'm the extrovert and I know my job.

1 year ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

You know what though, they are there, and that is support.

1 year ago | Likes 74 Dislikes 1

Not if they're miserable and likely griping about it. At that point, most kids would rather stay home than go to a convention all the joy has been stripped from because they're just being guilted over it.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They might have looked like they wanted to be somewhere else, but nothing about that said anything about griping. They can look miserable all they want as long as they don't show it to the kid. I know my parents did plenty they might not have liked but did it to support me and I love them for it. Both for the experiences and the fact the supported my interests. I've seen parents at cons who looked like they didn't want to be there, but as soon as their kid looked their way, they perked up.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Fuck yeah. That's how you parent, people. Someone give this dude a doubloon or whatever they use on the show

1 year ago | Likes 359 Dislikes 0

Apples of something like that... never seen it

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sounds like it's whatever they use where he's from too

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Luffy would invite him to join the crew for sure

1 year ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

That's one of the people on the show!

1 year ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Spelling may vary, but it's Beris or Berries, pronounced how they look. There are a couple translations that spell it Beli or Belly, but it would be pronounced like "Baileys."

1 year ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

Got it. Doubloons. I understand it's a very loved a highly regarded show, just not one I ever expect to get in to

1 year ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

It is over 1k episodes now, so I don't blame you. I only knew it because I liked it in college, and decided to catch up.

Worth a plot synopsis read through, though.

1 year ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Give it a gander when they release the remaster at least. It really is a joy - deep, detailed, highly unique, but just feels like a friend. The day it ends I suspect I won't feel dissimilar to a childhood friend passing.

Oda is one of the very few authors that I would like to meet. It feels like every passing year, they just kept loosening the reins and letting him be wilder and weirder. He does a great job balancing the whimsy and absurdity with heavy topics and gravitas. To me, it feels like it makes fun of the shonen genre in a different way than One Punch man or JoJo. Oda acknowledges that a lot of the shonen tropes are a bit silly and leans into it HARD.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Couldn't agree more. An exception to the "don't meet your heroes", or so I firmly believe.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If you ever want to, just watch One Pace, which removes the filler.

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Well thanks! I missed out on DBZ cus my parents wouldn't let me watch it, but I really enjoyed Kai last year

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It doesn't so much remove the filler as it fixes the absolutely dreadful pacing the anime developed over the years. The recaps and slow panning shots to tense music really took over the show, to the point where during the Dressrosa arc you could skip every other episode and miss nothing.
