I feel as though the reason that turtle which looks like a snapper is going toward something moving, is to see if it can eat it. If it gets to be the size of a full grown snapper, it will have no problem finding out if something is food.
The turtles I saw today were less cute. Just a whole bunch of big algae-covered monsters givin' me the side-eye as I ran past. Turns out the sides of the trail I like to run are a favored nesting ground for snapping turtles.
How long to these little buddies live? After my 12 year old dog goes in the next few years and absolutely destroys me, is there a chance one of these little fellas will outlive me? Asking for a friend.
They dont hate subtitles, but the frantic style of one word at a time rapidly flashing in the center of the screen, instead of just normal full phrase subtitles.
Im pretty sure well done subtitles are something most people like, esp if you dont want to turn the sound up or have trouble hearing.
Yeah this one here is one of the worst examples I've seen of this type. The words almost overlayed on each other. Normally I can read full sentences pretty quick with subs but these I struggled with.
I thought maybe it was an inclusive for all types thing, but I haven't heard any proof. If it's not to include more friends to the table, then burn these subtitles with fire.
I can read and process information perfectly well, and they just make reading far more difficult for me. I imagine it'd probably be even worse for anyone with some kind of info processing disorder.
They could use normal subtitles then. These single-word pop-up subtitles are designed to grab your attention and nothing else. TikTok doesn't care about you, just your attention.
Sad part is, nothing is going to change, because billions of people are becoming tiktok zombies now, even those not using that disgusting shitheap of an app.
Sure, but they don't need to "burst," or be only one word at a time. There's a reason that normal subtitles just sit on the screen in full sentences. This obnoxious "style" is an eyesore at best and headache-inducing at worst.
I use subtitles a lot, but i agree that bubble popping style is hurting my head.. I hate it because i actually need them sometimes and i cant fucking read fast enough to be honest.. I would like subtitles to be whole sentances that are readable instead.
But i have heard other people who listens to videos at 2x speed that they prefer those fast popping subtitles..
It's a comprehension thing. Spritz was the first I remember, waaay before Tiktok.
Tiktok has this wonderful way of giving people what they want.. And you'll find that if imgur started using these captions before Tiktok, you'd have everyone applauding how much easier they are...
If it wasn't better, people wouldn't use it. Tiktok trends aren't like memes with 15 years of history and rules to follow, it'll switch 180 week to week if that's the way the public want it
I remember it being widely criticised as a bloated RAM-hog with completely unjustified system requirements. It was at any rate unpopular enough to have a Wikipedia page dedicated to criticism of it:
Yea cos an almost literally complete monopoly on operating systems is the same as videos on the Internet that have hundreds of millions of people competing for the same attention. Haha, cmon
You don't like it! That's cool. Lots of people didn't like seat belts at first! (that's not a fair comparison either, but when in Rome.. haha). Seriously tho, it's fine that it's not for you, not everyone has to like everything, but clearly more do like this. It has no value other than its attention keeping
But it's not like I'm the lone dissenter and everyone else thinks it's great. Every person I've seen express an opinion on it has said they hate it, except you.
This is why its so dangerous and needs to be banned and have tons of money spent on propaganda campaigns against it... 'What if they people want to see what their govt is up to?'.. Yup, it shows you that too.
Ologarchy HAS to keep the gen Xers believing its just fortnite dances and thirst traps, or its all over
Hahaha, yeah, it's definitely because TikTok is so great and is destroying the oligarchy with shitty subtitles that people oppose it. It has nothing to do with the Chinese government whatsoever.
I mean, pretty much yea lol. The data that apparently needs to be so preciously guarded is all for sale legally anyway, haha. And a few moments on it (tbf, like 30-60mins for it to start to be really good at giving you what you wanna see) you'll see it's not Chinese propaganda or control. Just another social media site, but one that doesn't promote outrage (tho if you're an outrage fan it'll give it to you specifically I'm sure!)
Givr it a try. If you like it here you'll love it.

Note, it’s an Australian animal, any that are overseas have been poached. It’s a protected reptile that requires a license to own.

I have kind of the opposite issue. With full sentences a I can read them at climpse 3 times faster than those stypid pop ups.

Is that why Microsoft released Windows Vista? Because it was much better than XP?
Every single time I see a video with this style of subtitles, I see at least one complaint about it in the comments, usually heavily upvoted.
obzbdc
Vista was a massive improvement on XP as long as you didn't try to run it on your underspeced 4 year old XP machine.
RoutemasterFlash
I remember it being widely criticised as a bloated RAM-hog with completely unjustified system requirements. It was at any rate unpopular enough to have a Wikipedia page dedicated to criticism of it:

The point I was making, which I'd thought was obvious, was simply that something being new doesn't guarantee it's better than what came before.
