My sister's town doesn't recycle. A hurricane wiped out the recycling center, and they basically said "mother nature doesn't want us to".

My domino's pizza box says to recycle it, but the pizza grease says fuck that. Most plastics are "recycled" into a furnace fuel.

What you call a "furnace fuel" is actually a sophisticated form of pyrolysis designed to both produce power, heat/steam, and doing it in a way that massively reduces the amount of toxins that inefficient burning releases into the air, much like the furnace you mentioned. Fun fact the pressure & heat produced by pyrolysis burns particulate in the compressed medium so effectively that if were to heat up a car rim&tire such as by welding on it or even using the torch to loosen nuts; it will cause ¹

The Initial heating of the metal rim to enter a runaway phenomenon where even after the heat source is removed, if the heat was hot enough to trigger pressurized burning of the rubber and dust particulate aka pyrolysis; it would produce so much pressure on the still beaded tire that if you entirely removed the valve stem, it would continue building pressure until the tire catastrophically fails.
