Don't normally do this but I had to. The older gentlemen in this picture noticed younger one reading a book. And just sat down and asked him questions about the book and what his next steps are as far as his education and future. Than he took his information and offered him mentorship and opportunities. Now these two man don't know one another at all. But I share this because this is what's missing. This is not shown by media. These man holding each other down to better the next generation.THIS is what needs to be done. Might not mean much to some . But to those that see will see the bigger picture , this is for you! Remember " EACH ONE TEACH ONE!" Thanks and have a good day. (NOT MINE - SHARED) Original content ( Instagram : @LYNX_ALWAYSRIGHT )

Men* as in these men not man

I like the thought but we have no idea what's really going on in this picture.

Glad to see another person willing to help a youth. We need more people like this building our youth up.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The young one has his cell in his hand and the older guy is showing him how to set up Bluetooth headphones there is NO BOOKS

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I feel like this is incredibly important for the rest of Imgur to see

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

Humanity needs more of this, young people need different types of mentoring like cook, laundry, taking care of ones self or life skills.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As someone who reads a lot, I can't stand it when people randomly interrupt me to ask questions about the book. Just let me read man.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

People being kind and supportive of one another really shouldn't be considered "news."

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I watch World News Tonight with David Muir on ABC every day and they close each broadcast with a story like this called "America Strong."

9 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 1

Not quite the same, but I help guide people into learning IT related subjects as a mentor. I've had one who got picked up by a company

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Best thing I've read today. Thanks for sharing.

9 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 5

may I ask you, what are your future plans for education?

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Always be learning. And teaching.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Maybe work on that grammar while you're at it too.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's not completely gone, there are lots of clubs, volunteer organizations and local groups that do this all the time. People just like to<

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

>focus on negative, famous, or large events. That and then of course a lot of people are self centered assholes.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sometimes the smallest gestures have the biggest impacts. +1 for the positivity.

9 years ago | Likes 78 Dislikes 6

How is that a small gesture??

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The younger one has the first pair of Jordan's I ever owned. Red suede sixes, they were sweet

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

This is what living in society is supposed to be about. A generation raised upon strong moral, cultural, and familial values will thrive.(1)

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 4

The future however, isn't looking very strong. :( (2)

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

I mean that's cool, but the real story is that left dudes timbs

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

See something say something....oh wait, that's different. Get learnt!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I respect the ferragamos

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Reading "two man" & "these man" made me cringe.

9 years ago | Likes 516 Dislikes 52

Heard it in a middle eastern accent

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

MAN DON'T CARE BOUT ALL DAT

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

i completely missed that. honestly i didn't even notice

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I just had to keep rereading lines cause it through me off track

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I see what you did there

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

OP didn't read a book on the train and thus never had someone magically swoop down to give them mentorship and opportunities.

9 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 3

well... try to write in portuguese for example...and let's see how you gone make me cringe

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I would if I spoke Portuguese. Obviously the man speaks English.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"Than he took his information" was also...yeesh

9 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 6

Education was dawn of man.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Go write everything they wrote , but in Irish. I'll point out your mistakes.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 3

Can it wait until the weekend? I need to get a running start on my binge drinking

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Generic alcohol joke. Witty.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

Theres no joke in there. I really have a problem.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Offer your mentorship.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

as a non english native, whats wrong with it? seems perfectly fine for me. the "than" is obvious, but i cant find the mistake in this?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

One man, two men, this man, these men.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

ooooohhh...i didnt even look at the word "man", thought it was like they're/their. thanks!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Write it out for me in Norwegian, I'll point out your mistakes for a quick 400 points.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I would if I spoke Norvegian. No wait I wouldn't. Why should I take orders from a Tiny Fucking Rick?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Then you should understand why this person might not fully master the English language, and help out instead of cringing at his mistakes.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He clearly speaks English, as do I. Also, by pointing out his mistake he could learn from it (if he was op).

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He does, but not at your level (clearly). You didn't point out the mistake, just the fact that it was wrong. No explanation or correction.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

English is probably not their first language... I'm hoping.

9 years ago | Likes 107 Dislikes 10

Often people who know English as a second language have better grammar than those raised on it.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

It's my fourth. I shouldn't judge though.

9 years ago | Likes 60 Dislikes 16

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 24

For what its worth I gave you an upvote.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yea why am I the only one on this train getting downvotes? Thanks for your upvote though.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

English is my 27th language, you all suck at it.

9 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 3

While you guys studied language, I studied the blade.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have transcended the need for verbal communication, but I guess you're not doing too bad

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Got to be honest this happens alot in black neighborhoods more often than you would think. But no its not covered at all.

9 years ago | Likes 1615 Dislikes 24

where are you from that this happens a lot?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 5

Why does it matter? Why would you need to know that?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I don't need to know. I was curious. Oh well.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But why would you be curious about that? It seems very weird. Like do you feel you would have had a point somewhere?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That isn't a black neighbourhood, that's a train.

9 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 16

Or a metaphor... ;-)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 7

Because no one calls the news outlets to say "hey, I'm going to talk to this kid on the train. Come record."

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There are whole programs in these places that have been there for over a decade. And yet u think it just happens on trains...hmmmm

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

? we're talking about the fucking train. dafuq are you on about

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's great! And should be given more credit. It's a hostile world to be young/black/male in. Ya gotta stick together

9 years ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 8

Headline reads: Two Men Speak on Train. That'll sell papers.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 4

Exactly.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

A LOT

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 4

Dude I want to believe you but (based on your U/N) my religious beliefs tell me to be skeptical of you because of who you advocate for.

9 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 49

No one understands you meant username and they think you're actually discriminating against his religion. Idiots.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Some people's kids amiright?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Right you are.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Mostly because comments below yours.

9 years ago | Likes 148 Dislikes 4

Which one? Pyramid scheme comment?

9 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 0

Depending on when you visit this site, the top comments are way different.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Yea there is a toxic side that loves posts like this.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Definitely, took me a while to realise it's just some and not everyone on here.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well that's just terrific, good on the mentors :)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My thought while reading this, why the fuck would this be covered by the media? This is just two people talking on a train?

9 years ago | Likes 111 Dislikes 16

Seriously. That would be very strange.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Why the fuck does the news cover fireman rescuing a goddamned cat from a tree? This story is way more important.

9 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 8

Truthfully I've never seen that in the news either, but I don't watch all that often.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Where the fuck does the news cover a fireman rescuing a cat?

9 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 1

Actually saw a post on here a few days ago of firemen rescuing a cat from a pipe.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Our local newspaper has a police log, it would be in small text bottom of page 4

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fake news

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Because of the fact blacks are only polarized in a negative light in America it would seem that anyhting constructive or positive done is

9 years ago | Likes 46 Dislikes 12

To be fair, this same situation wouldn't be reported if they were white either. It's not newsworthy beyond local news.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Almost always overlooked in some cases blatantly. Yet a drug dealer or murder will make national news for no reason.

9 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 8

No reason? You mention murder like it's no reason to make it on the news.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

No reason, people die everyday in America because of others actions. Its not as if its uncommon.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

National news? No. The vast majority of murders that get there have no business there minus their ability to inspire some emotion or another

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Obviously not enough.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 19

Because it's not in the news? Believe me a lot of stuff happens and people arent there to record it

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

No, because African Americans consist of about 13% of the population but about 50% of all violent crime...

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 4

Federal criminal stats BTW, not my opinion.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

but lets all pretend its not true so no one is offended. People will be beaten, raped, and murdered, but luckily no one will be offended.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 4

Dude what the hell? Hell yeah the ghetto has gang violence and shit while poverty is only making it worse but all that crime is typically >

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I would be pretty annoyed if I was reading and some stranger interrupted to try to give me unsolicited advice.

9 years ago | Likes 55 Dislikes 44

Fuck you suck then

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 9

And then another stranger started taking pictures of us.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 3

Thank you! Like, I'm reading a fictional book about assassinating spy dragons, you think I got my shit together? Lol

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 3

Aaaand that's why we can't have nice things (like just talking to humans in public. Gosh!)

9 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 7

Not true. Everyone is different. Some people just don't like to be bothered.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Everyone is different but someone with good intentions shouldn't be ignored

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 5

Worrying you've been downvoted for this

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Sarcasm or genuine

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Jeez man. I get being introverted and whatever but just immediately shutting off anyone who tries to engage you is a great way to die alone.

9 years ago | Likes 56 Dislikes 11

Hey, he didn't ask for your reply. Leave these poor internet people alone with your unsolicited comments!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I work in retail. People are terrible. Dying alone sounds pretty rad.

No but I'm from another big city and it's the same - it's just nice to chat to a stranger every now and again

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And that's one of the many reasons I'd hate to live there. I actually enjoy interaction with others. It can be nice talking to new people.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I agree. Being respectful and generally nice when conversing with a stranger is not something you see in most people.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This ^

9 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 4

... is what a sentence looks like.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

^ not getting the sarcasm

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 16

I think you need to look up sarcasm

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Who do you think is being sarcastic?

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

What a wonderful philosophy. That way you could go through your whole life without ever really knowing anyone.

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

I got that reference! I may be incorrect but I think it is super philosophy though.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah I looked it up: I think that's a super philosophy, Will; that way you can go ...

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Matt Damon.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Robin Williams.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

yeah, dying alone is pretty much best case scenario at this point. you just kinda get used to it

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Get a therapist.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

Nahhhh

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Holy crap, people on this site tell people to get a therapist at the first sign of vaguely negative emotions.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

"I'm gonna die alone you get used to it" is not the first sign of negative emotions. If someone really feels that way, its not normal -

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

Could be a pyramid scheme

9 years ago | Likes 648 Dislikes 41

9 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 35

Why does this have downvotes?

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 13

Because it wasnt funny

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 5

I encountered one on the subway. He told me that I look like I have the "chops to make it." He offered me 1/3 of my current salary. Awesome.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How would you like to sell amway?!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I gave some advice to a young man selling door to door "for opportunities in business" about the military and he gave me the finger....

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ya that's what the "opportunity" usually is.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

While completely anecdotal the only 2 black guys at my work are apart of separate pyramid schemes. Both also try to get everyone to join

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I know guys like that "people without vision will say its a scam, but we are gonna be our own boss and be rich" 6 yrs later... Still broke.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

"You have to want it more than the next guy. All you have to do is pay for this class, then you can start making money like this guy I know"

He proceeded to draw two circles, and then one above it, then three below it. So I asked for his pen and made it a triangle and just left
