I love every second of it. If you suffer from anxiety or depression, give it a shot. It's so liberating.

Yes CYCLING is life.

Buy a lock with one of those "If stolen, we pay you price of bike up to" locks. Keeps mine safe as a bike courier.

Awesome. Lots of cyclists will tell you lots of things. Do what you like - use common sense be courteous and never let it stop being joyful

You ever take it off any sweet jumps?

Missing some sweet pegs

Cycling allows me to stomp my feet for hours, without being called "childish." It has medically and emotionally saved my life. Good for you!

Me too.

Rule on number of bikes u must own. N+1. N=bikes u have now

Should've bought a mountain bike. Drivers threatening your life over and over again will make you more anxious.

I started riding on a mountain bike on the road. Drivers suck, but I think the rush kinda adds spice to my rides.

+1 for it not being a walmart bike, also get on strava and try to beat the fastest cyclists in your area.

Walmart bikes are good for a beginner like myself.... $175 cheap and, I only bike on average every Saturday, sunday-2 hours total

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

not really, as walmart bikes are that terrible, they might make you hate cycling with the constant creaking, bolts which won't hold

and if you aren't a competent bike mechanic yourself, you're going to spend more on trying to get it in a ridable condition than it's worth

If I had a place to cycle I would

How do you not have roads around you?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

roads that arent filled with cars that make the ride filled with anxiety of being hit? None

Cool bike bro, just a few problems. Tires are too skinny, and it's lacking front and rear suspension. Mtn bike for life!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I had a MTN but they aren't the best for distance. I doubled my miles after switching to a road bike. MTN bikes are still kings of trails!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well the road is no fun. Double mileage?Whoopty do. How about an actual double jump! Ha Im kidding If you love having a roadie, good for you

We need to get those reflectors off. Those scream "new guy".

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

Valve caps need to go.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Uhhh those reflectors also help people see you? Dont be a dumbass op just for "looks"

You're the second person to tell me that. Elaborate?

Get lights if you want to be seen. They aren't designed to stay on a long time. Just to cover the bike co's ass for legality.

The same with the metal tabs on the fork, where the wheel fits in. Those tabs keep the wheel falling off, if the quick release fails.

I have lights too. I just want to be seen as much as possible. The metal tabs I didn't know about. Thanks for the help! I'm a total noob.

Friendly advice: get yourself some "proper" pedals and shoes if you can.

I have been considering getting clips, but I'm using it for commuting and don't want to wear clip shoes all the time.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Fair enough, i just carry my work shoes in a backpack or leave some at work, but i do understand. Get some "old fashioned" straps/cages?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Straps look...shitty. I think Im gonna look for normal-looking clip shoes if it becomes make or break. Is it worth it for performance?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"Efficiency" really as you get much better power transmission through the stroke and on return. Don't go for dual use shoes though as 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

2/2 As you'll wear out cleats at an alarming speed and they cost, just change your shoes :)

Ditto to what the other poster says, clips help with hills when you learn to "pull up" on the return. Also just keep shoes in a desk .
