She’s not much. But she’s mine. Saved and planned for years to finally buy my own house right before I turned 26. Its never without anxiety but owning something by myself at this age, to me, feels amazing. Plus I get to build and paint shit any time I want.

100-ish year old bungalow with all its original craftsman woodwork. Swoon.

Renovated office for gaming and working from home.

My boy. I work hard to give my son a better life.

Well done sir! an accomplishment to achieve at that age- the rest of your life will be a well deserved chilled one- buying big boy toys

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Own a home before I’m 26, new life goal.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Come the spring, edge your sidewalks. It's a little thing but it makes a home appear that much nicer.

I just bought my first apartement at 30. At 26 I was sharing a kitchen with 5 other people.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Was it originally built to be a home or for a business?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Home. The bungalows just look like that here.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I like it :)

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Under half a million, and that's under ten years. Do t know how people do it now. Btw as many have stated I'd love to see interior pics

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That’s a hot market! I’m in a similar spot and don’t know how folks are supposed buy these days. Things on the west coast are crazy .

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What city and state?

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Was it always a residential building, or did it have a past life as something different?

7 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 1

Always residential. This is a common bungalow design in the city I live.

Looks like St. Louis to me.

Don't let these posts get you down. I can assure you his parents helped. Graphic designer, there's no way he paid for it in full.

Keep going!

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I just turned 41 and just bought my first house a few months ago. It is such a massive relief and stress at the same time!

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

You can save a lot of money by not buying into the land owner fantasy. Property taxes and home repairs fucking suck.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah in NZ everyone is advising not to buy homes and to rent because there's a huge housing crisis and it's smarter to rent.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's only a fantasy if your not willing to work at it.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The "home as an investment" angle is not quite what it used to be. I have no desire to own a home right now. Too damn busy.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Don't fret about not owning a house. Ever had to buy a new roof? No you haven't. Ever had to move to a new location? Guess what, you 1-

Please don't neglect the fact that simply by paying your mortgage you are effectively funding your retirement while paying rent just hurts.

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

This is a big deal because people our age are really, REALLY fucked when it comes to retirement. Barring fame/luck I will not get to retire.

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Retire? I don't understand that word... is it like death?

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

That is literally my retirement plan. To have money set aside to die painlessly when the rest runs out. Guessing I'll "retire" early, too.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

lies

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No, paying rent doesn't "just hurt". There are a lot of benefits. There's no shame in not being a home owner. Just ask anyone who got 1-

seriously offset your retirement. Sure, it works out most of the time, but not always. As a wise financial broker once said, if you 3-

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

You're either a complete fool or someone who owns or otherwise profits off of rental properties. Owning your home is a huge fucking deal.

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

Well you've certainly drawn me into a debate by jumping straight to personal insults. I do love the Mute feature.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

don't have to sell your house first! Are you sad that you can't "build equity"? You can, just put money in a bank account. I can't go 2-

7 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 3

The above is huge for our generation had several friends lose major opportunities to double their pay check and relocate somewhere nicer

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

A friend of mine, single guy with no firm ties, was going to buy a house simply because he could. That one realization changed his mind.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

buy a cheeseburger with my home equity. There are pros and cons to either side of home ownership. Sure, if you rent you're paying someone 3-

7 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 3

else's mortgage, but that person is also paying for all your home repairs. 4-4

7 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 3

How many home repairs do you think are needed that often? My boiler and expensive things come with a warranty and I have home insurance.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

There is a legitimate calculation to be made between renting and owning. In many markets, it's worth owning, but in some, renting is better.

I only want to start over if I can somehow not graduate into anything like the 2008 recession. Can I be born in the mid-60s? Easy mode.

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

A lot of people got their life delayed because of an recession. It is like a disadvantaged childhood.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Graduated in the 2000 recession. That one was a classic. I recommend it.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yep, that was the one that nuked my college fund.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I also graduated in 2009. So I'll give you advanced notice if I intend to ever graduate again.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Thanks, though I've been back to school once (while working two jobs) and don't imagine I'll ever be able rise to that challenge again...

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Every job I've gotten through a connection. Every cert/degree I've gotten has never been used.
