So instead of 4 AA batteries, you use 4 AA batteries and 4 C cells

For when you wanted your handheld gaming device to be not that

That was fancy tech. Mine were all separate units, a the NightSight magnifier that clipped on top and Nubi external speakers that clipped on bottom. And 15 AA batteries to run that monument to off-white plastic.

Seems to defeat the entire purpose of having a portable gaming device.

I can only imagine how much this thing weighs!

I loved when you reached the casino and could just spend all your time playing blackjack.

Game Man

Damn I wanted one of those back in the day.

Man, did your uncle work at Nintendo too?

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Kinda defeats the purpose of having a portable handheld gaming console by making it as unwieldy as possible.

Super Gameboy for SNES was the greatest thing ever invented for a GB fan. No, it was the greatest thing ever invented.

Kinda makes fuck all difference.

By 1998 I had the game boy pocket. I think the color came out shortly after this too

Holy shit I was not expecting that Nintendo logo to hit me so dang hard. I hadn’t heard that sound in like over 20 years.

I dont think I've ever seen this thing back in the day. I had one of those clip-on lights for my gameboy which took up just as many AA batteries as the gameboy itself.

I once ran mine on a 9V. It played fine except for a super high pitched weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee the entire time it was on

I remember road trips as a kid, in the back seat at night, holding my gameboy up high so the headlights of the car behind us would illuminate the screen. Simpler times.

We didn't like the kid that had all this, b/c he was a pretentious asshole flaunting all his shit in front of us.

I dunno man 98? The GB Pocket would have been two years old by then and the Color came out in Oct of that year. Would figure the most popular kid wouldn't still be rocking the old grey beast.

Did either the pocket or the color have a backlight? Why did it take them so long to figure out how to add an LED?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I may be wrong, but I don't think they had a backlight until the SP.

I googled when this game came out and it said 1998. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Bond_007_(1998_video_game)

Game Boy titles (being still compatible with the Color) continued to be published to their slightly wider audience until the GBA.

Had one of these. No idea where it came from. Just materialized in my house one day

This keeps reminding me of Titan Boy and Titan Flash from Flashman. https://imgur.com/N1v7oAF

Look, they gave the Gameboy a mech suit. A Mechboy if you will.

Converting a d-pad to a stick this way makes me laugh at how awful an idea it is.

Have to give some love to Saitek, though. Before getting bought by Mad Catz (ugh) and then Logitech (yay), they were keeping the affordable mid-tier joystick dream alive. The X52/X52 Pro is still one of my favorite designs, even if I've moved on to better setups.

Never knew they did stuff like this monster here, but it's entirely on brand for them. Mad engineers.

I knew someone who had this, those button extensions are as terrible as you imagine.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I used to have a Saitek Cyborg, and it was a dope design, despite being ludicrously fragile.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Maybe they didn't put enough augments on the organic parts.

I loved the p2500 gamepad idgaf

1998? Maybe flip those last two digits.

James Bond 007 for Game Boy was released in 1998. It taught 11 year old me how to play Baccarat (poorly).

19∂8?

Nono, the other way. 8961
