Just had my first Dorito in more than a month. Think I'm going to keep off the alcohol for the rest of the year at least. Never touching another cigarette.
Down 22lbs.

When I quit smoking I put on weight. You are a fucking trooper. Enjoy that Dorito. I hope it was cool ranch.

As frito lay employee i must say congratulations on the alcohol and cigs achievement. You need to eat more doritos though, how else can i put my kid through college!

Been there done that. Almost 30 years later (no booze or drugs) I'm glad I quit. You will be too.

Awesome ! WQell done.

3 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yay! Surviving is a tough racket, but we're gettin' it DONE!

My 3yr alcohol sobriety coming up in 19days, been 28yrs off nicotine & quit corn & potato chips sometime about a year ago. I'm struggling with my weight b/c my bad knee keeps me from hiking (my former choice of exercise). Carbs have been tough to kick. I'm snacking on nuts & dried fruit mostly.

Keep up the good work, @OP. Accolade awarded!

Damn, I quit smoking and gained 40 lbs... wtf. (I didn't drink and still don't though)

3 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

After 8 years no smoking something snapped and now Im a smoker for about 3 months. Not yet there, Im enjoying every cigarette. But I will quit.

3 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Hell yeah, I quit soda 2 weeks ago and I'm down 7lbs.

You go human!

3 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I was with on the no cigarettes or alcohol. But no Doritos?!?!?!

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

When I smoke I eat fastfood and other terrible food. I'm quiting monday.

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Good luck! Set a quit date and throw out anything cigarette related. Availability of cigarettes is the biggest contributing factor I read somewhere.

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My friends and I always take a designated driver with us when we go out for Doritos.

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Quitting cigarettes always makes me fiend for snacks. Obviously I'm not as strong as you. Shit, doing one or the other is a feat unto itself. AND laying off the snacks? You're incredible m. Keep going.

'So anyway I'm horking down tostitos now' /s

I live in Mexico now, and there is a green bag of Tostitos. Kind of a Chili Verde sort of thing. They are pure crack. When I pick you up at the airport, you get a tequila shot for Bienvenidos, two Modelos to toast the whales, and a green bag of Tostitos. Kind of a party starting kit for the back of the bus. Everyone loses their mind for the whales and Tostitos. Salud

Never eat Doritos, dogs won’t eat them and you can use them as fire lighters.

3 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Pace yourself. It takes a while. 22lbs in 2 mos sounds like a lot.

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

On on my third month with no alcohol. And for some reason I'm still craving it so badly. Dunno why but after I quit I've been sleeping more often and it sucks.

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thanks for reminding me, I have Doritos!

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The Dorito farmers have to make a living too. So I use them with a clear conscience.

3 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That is INCREDIBLE! Well done you! 👍👍👍

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

5days no weed or concentrate.

3 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

@OP 3 days no weed! I'm going for 30.

3 weeks ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 1

I'm on day 52 giving up thc. If you are a daily smoker the first few days are hard in the sense you want to have a smoke out of habbit. It gets harder the next free weeks because you dint have the thc clouding reality and you reflect more in a negative light. Don't give up. Don't let the hard days win

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Congratulations!!! Thanks for this. I wondered. I thought it would be like cigs, the longer without the less the desire. If I am just a weekend user, cool. But seems to have just escalated to use more of my time and money than I like for it to. Discount vacations appeal more to me than smoking weed alone.

Doritos are a slippery slope

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You already did the hard part, you got this.
I quit it about 8 months ago and the first days are the hardest. After 1 week it will get more easy. At least that was for me.

3 weeks ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Also no cigarettes for 10yrs and 10yrs 6mos before that. Keep being a non smoker!! Your heart and lungs can't take the abuse

3 weeks ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

I actually starting smoking more weed when I quit alcohol. I would smoke maybe once a week before, now it's daily. But I'd rather this than the alcohol. I think I'll taper down the weed soon, though. Good luck!

3 weeks ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Weed is much less harmful for you than alcohol. Keep it up! Good luck to you, and congratulations!

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I also stopped drinking at the start of the year but... As it turns out I'm not really seeing any changes other than it being cheaper to drink excessive tea because I was only drinking Fridays and Saturdays, and maybe 3-4 drinks total in that window.

Going from 3-4 once per week to nothing at all isn't enough of a step down to see benefits I guess.

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Depends what you drink. Alcohol by itself isn't good for your body. Some wines have benefits, as do some beers. Vodka is the cleanest to filter, but generally no bueno for your system. More mental than anything, and depends what else you are doing in conjunction to see benefits, eg diet and exercise. Still, alcohol isnt good for your system, and most benefits show up in sleep patterns, weight, energy levels and cognitive functions. Keep it up.

3 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Generally I've always been active both lifting and cardio (hiking), and I've gotta be sharp for my role as an engineer. Brain gets the daily workout every day lol. But yeah, my sleep has always been shit mostly due to self-infliction. Weight is healthy for my height and build.

Point made though, I was just surprised to not feel any changes at all. I did discover some amazing NA beers though, I'll be continuing with those going forward to further reduce my intake.

3 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I get the no change and ping me in a few months. Maybe just reactions. My GF doesn't drink, and the amount of great NA beers and wines are increasing daily. We both live in Mexico now from US, and actually the Modelo NA is pretty good without breaking the bank. Most red wines are still funky, but the whites and champagnes hold their own. Good luck and thanks for the feedback.

Normally I suggest quitting one thing at a time, but you seem to be crushing it, so massive kudos to you, my dood.

3 weeks ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 2

Recovery councilors normally say everything at once. I prefer your way.

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The cigarettes were killing me fast, the alcohol was killing me slowly.

3 weeks ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

The Doritos were killing you zestfully

3 weeks ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

Quitting cigarettes without quitting alcohol is very difficult. I also had to quit both at the same time.

3 weeks ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Good work!

3 weeks ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Don't congratulate me. The longest I quit cigarettes (well nicotine) was 18 months an the longest I quit alcohol was a month. I'm back on it. But we try again. Quit nicotine twice now. First time was 6 months.

3 weeks ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I’m 5days off weed again after52yrs of use. I’m vaping last 15yrs or so. Hit me if you want. It’s not a marathon.

3 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Fall down 6 times, get up 7. I never said it would be easy, I said it would be worth it. Your story of struggle will be someone’s story of success.
Keep up the fight brother. Hit me if you need me.

3 weeks ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Hell yeah!

After smoking for nearly 30 years, I've only had one cigarette since January 5th.

3 weeks ago | Likes 89 Dislikes 2

the smartest thing I ever did was quit smoking. I'm still hooked on the Doritos though.

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Had to vape, couldn’t do it.

3 weeks ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I switch to vaping about 6 years ago. It is so much worse than smoking. Yes at first it felt better on my lungs to vape than smoke a cigarette. And I haven't touched a cigarette ever since. They are disgusting now. But, I now hit my vape every 2 minutes. It's ridiculous how much more I'm smoking by vaping. It's on the chopping block. I've tried Zin. Fuck that shit. I hate having shit in my mouth. So it's back to patches for me which worked really well for several years.

3 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But vaping will catch up to you just like smoking does. Your lungs will start to hurt and you will feel every drag just like a cigarette.

3 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Damn, bro! That's amazing. I've quit before. It takes like a good six months to be normal again. The main thing is, never have another cigarette ever again.

3 weeks ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 2

After 6 months it's easy after a year you question why it took you so long to quit. I'm 3 years 1 month smoke free 2 years 4 months sober!!

3 weeks ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I felt so bad when I'd made it 5 weeks and broke down and had one. I miss the taste, and several of my friends smoke and I just can't be around it because I'm weak.

3 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

23 days in September. Trust me. Don't be anywhere around that shit. I actually think it's pretty great the way my city has banned smoking anywhere visible.

3 weeks ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

There's lots of places you can still smoke indoors here. It's hard to go places where there's no smoking. I'm trying to be strong, but I'm not sure how long I'll make it.

3 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I quit for seven years. About the six month mark I was like: I'm cured. I fucking hate cigarettes. But up until that point I was still fiending. Your life is a series of stratagems right now to never touch another fucking smoke again in your life.

I also liked this time last year, and the repost bot was good too

Honestly, I miss ttly too.

3 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

When it converts to sane measurements, it gets an upvote. If it converts to freedumb units, it gets a downvote.

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 4

I don't think you fully understand the purpose of unit conversion or why there's a bot for it.

3 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We shouldn't need it. But US-Americans are afraid of change, so I get the downvotes. Don't care.

3 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I bet you don't tip because either. Don't bother explaining why. We've all heard it before.

Yes

okay one person

3 weeks ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 33

I actually appreciate it a fair bit for weight loss posts that use kg. I’ve gotten the hang of some metric units but not really weight. So I can imagine someone in the rest of the world would benefit from this on posts with lbs… as opposed to the viewer or the poster being expected to look up the conversion.

3 weeks ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 2

As a Dutch person, I very much appreciate this. Whomever thought the measurements of the imperial system makes sense…
The metric system is many times easier.
1 pound here is 500grams.
1 kg is 2 pounds, or 1000 grams.

This example shows that imperial pounds are different than metric pounds. In my mind, 22 pounds is 11 kilograms. While in fact it’s over a kilogram less.

So thank you conversionbot.

3 weeks ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 3

Is that an official conversion or just a widely accepted approximation?

3 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

1 kg is 1000 grams everywhere.
