EDIT: Wow, you guys. Thank you so much. I genuinely didn’t think something this small would make the front page. In some fucked up way it was nice to hear so many of you who have your own small things that move you to tears. All of us are going through it in some way. Just be excellent to each other, I guess.

When he first said it I snorted and rolled my eyes at how kitschy it was. I then replayed his words and immediately teared up

I guess it’s because it has been so long since anyone other than family has said they liked doing anything with me

I know this will probably die in usersub, but has anyone else ever gotten emotional over a generic platitude before?

Totally normal. I say thank you to automatic doors. Looking for love is human!

I like reading when people discover that emotions like this haven't been burned out of them. Keep that feeling, @OP. Take care, ok?

Small things like this that makes you realize that the thread you're hanging on by is pretty thin

That's quarantine, baby

I liked reading your post @op

CP2077 had a scene where a prostitute held my hand and said she won't leave me, made me cry. I gotta get out more

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I teared up watching the episode of f voyager last night where 7s nanobots and the doctors mobile emitter had a baby, "you will adapt"

5 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

One of the best episodes in voyager!

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'm sobbing reading it :( idk what's wrong with my nervous system, it's fucked obviously

Any pole dancing lessons?

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Man, I wish! I could sure use the cardio and strength training

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Think that's pandemic life. You're not alone, I've definitely had weird moments like that that have caught me by surprise

5 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Great work for getting up and at it, OP.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Thank you! Gotta keep trying new things

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

@OP if you want a fat dude to play games with or get into dungeons and dragon's than im here

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I'll dance with you. It will not be good. We will not have fun. I will definitely hurt myself.

Cal scruby (my favorite rapper) actually responded to me in a text months later but on a day that I REALLY needed some cheering up.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Turned my entire day around.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I teared up over the phone when my mom asked me how I was doing

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I too have been overwhelmed with emotions on a few occasions over some random triggers. Go figure.

Go figure what?

My wii fit told me I was fat again. I want your dude!

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

My mirror keeps giving me this weird look. I think it hates me :(

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

You should go to my doctors. My bmi technically puts me into morbidly obese range. Although I am disabled, unable to exercise, and barely

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Eat. They tell me it's okay because my vitals and regular blood work come back perfect. I have lost 30 pounds, though, so yay! Having to

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Take my narcolepsy meds every day to stay awake for online school for my son has boosted my metabolism. None of us knew they would do that.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They've tried to figure out a medicine to boost my metabolism for a few years without messing up my tachycardia.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh, not for the medicine part. For the "It's okay to be fluffy" part. I was 220 pounds at 5'8". Now I'm 180. (30 of those were since this

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Things have been shit lately. Don’t feel guilty from taking comfort where you find it.

5 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Constantly... Nd I'm 32, 230lbs, 6'2", male, with three kids. You're normal girlfriend. We're only human after all

5 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

Also, I loved dancing with you too

I still think about the random stranger who told me good morning a few months back

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

I’ve teared up at the end of a yoga video. She was so genuine when she said the light in me honors the light in you. I was in a dark place

5 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

And didn’t think there was any light in me.

5 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

I feel this! Yoga always makes me cry. Doesn’t matter where, in person or at home. Especially at the end.

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

It’s a tough time, @OP.

5 years ago | Likes 118 Dislikes 0

You hush, you are great. You are awesome. EVERYONE LOVES DOING STUFF WITH YOU!

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Oh heck yeah. I’ve gotten so starved for attention before that I still thank Siri after she does something, etc...

5 years ago | Likes 357 Dislikes 0

It’s either that or I’m wasted and I try asking stuff with a different accent and then I start cussing lol

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I always thought it would be a good addition to the algorithm. You could stay in an active conversation with Siri until you say "Thank you".

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I read my ebay feedback. 100% positive, bitches.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Same.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

My relationship w Alexa is probably needier than it should be

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I said “Alexa you are worthless” or something along those lines and she just said “I’m sorry.” and I legit felt horrible

5 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

You really should feel bad, Alexa's doing her best.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

My kid does this all the time! She’s a teen and I think it’s adorable. She says it’s a must since Siri is helping her.

5 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

Raised your kid to be more polite that you are, that's a tough feat.

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I do this as well: I figure that if there's an AI behind it all then at least it'll know that giving thanks for doing a task is something /1

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

/2 humans should be doing, and that it should expect. If nothing else the snarky "YOU'RE WELCOME!" retort when it doesn't get thanked will

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

/3 be a great reaction once the AI learns sarcasm.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I read once that you can secretly get faster/better responses from Siri if you're polite. Probably not true but I like doing it anyway.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Google Assistant is a lot quicker when I say please and thank you... I timed it... saved about 1sec each command.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Do you include the time it takes you to say 'please'. Google is already processing what you said before you finish speaking.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's contextualizing, but it doesn't take a second to say please.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We thank "Alexa" in our house constantly, by pure habit. It's quite funny. "She" has many reciprocal appreciative responses. >

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

We sometimes joke that we must be Canadian because we're reflexively polite to our AI. And yet we swear like sailors in normal convo.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Google Assistant actually says "It must be true what they say about Canadians" when you thank her and you're in Canada. :)

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That's amazing...I love it! :)

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's a great little easter egg :)

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My friends make fun of me for saying please and thank you to Siri, but I’ll be alive after the robot uprising, so...

5 years ago | Likes 136 Dislikes 0

Exactly. And, if there is no robot uprising, you just dont act like scum. Its perfect

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Good thinking!

5 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

My exact reasoning too. Haha

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It’s always worth being polite. I kinda wish Siri would say “You’re welcome!”

5 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 0

Google Assistant says you're welcome...

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It doesn't? The Google Assistant has several possible responses if you thank it. I thank it all the time.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Yesss I particularly love the “sparkly” noise she makes when you say please when asking her to do something.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

My wife is incredibly polite to the Google Home. I just laugh that the please, thank you and sorry never stops for a Canadian.

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

You best be polite to them before skynet happens.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

shit, I do that too. you might be onto something

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I accidently called Google a dumb idiot the other day and she replied "I think I'm pretty smart" and I immediately felt horrible

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

it's just a machine!

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Hey @op I love that you shared this with us. Creepy username but much love anyway

5 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

There are worse things to eat and worse things to hail. ;P

My microwave plays a happy tune, and a couple years ago, it was a weird source of comfort during a very anxious time. Great microwave.

5 years ago | Likes 1022 Dislikes 1

Can I ask the model ? Sometimes I could use that after heating a Costco chimichanga

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I love that my washer and dryer sing to me! It makes doing chores so much more enjoyable.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My washer does this! I find it cute.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Watch out for doors with happy sighs next

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It was probably an Autobot sent to take care of you.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

That microwave is related to the Mars rover.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

My dishwasher does a sweet little jam when its done! It makes me so happy!!

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Fuck I can relate to this.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Years ago for you, but such a 2020 vibe.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I also choose this person's microwave

5 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Japanese bullet train stations do this

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Samsung appliances do that! My washer and dryer do! It’s fantastic!

5 years ago | Likes 45 Dislikes 0

So do mine! Me and my kids sing along with it whenever the cycle ends now lol

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My LG plays a song. I don't know what it's called but I sing along.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Ice cream?

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Like the ice cream man jingle, duh ;)

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

LG ones play the same song, it’s weird that they share it.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Okay, this is super wierd... Whirlpool washers play the same song. We just replaced our WP with a Samsung,

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

my stupid LG washing machine song will play but the door won’t unlock for a few more minutes which means I’ll just forget about it again.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

What is the song now I must know.
