A not one you're actually holding kind. That hand is not in the same room as those legs.

The kind that pops real loud when you bite it.

Female northern black widow spider. - they are notably larger than males.

♀ - 13-20 mm in body size; 40 mm leg-span
♂ - 5-6 mm in body size; 12 mm leg-span

I don't know, but I'm more concerned about the fact that your hand appears to have been cut off at the wrist and pinky!

Either a terrible meat slicer accident or a terrible photoshop cut/paste?

that's a peanut m&m

Nah, a peanut butter one more likely. The peanut ones are weird shaped, because of the peanut.

Black widow. Female. See the red hourglass on its underside. Very venomous.

I remember opening a valve box that was chalk-a-block full of widows while I was working irrigation years back. When I expressed concern about reaching in to shut off the valve and left to get a wrench my boss called me a pussy.

Oh good, you turn the valve then.

Apparently not as scary as I've been told my whole life? I got freaked out when I found one in my grandma's basement bathroom but my son's friend who was living there and using that bathroom said to let her be, they're shy and a bite is not a death sentence (or anything close). I dunno, I still gave it wide berth.

Their venom is compatible to a rattle snake but yes they r shy and they can choose to do a "dry" bite to scare you since venom is expensive metaboliclly to make.
