As a follow up to this earlier post (https://imgur.com/gallery/drummers-making-better-oHpzBTw), here are five more (plus a few extra) legendary drummers making everything better. To start with, my favorite classic rock drummer ever, John Bonham

Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater, a suggestion from the comments on my previous post

Bill Bruford of Yes & King Crimson fame, just being insane in the middle of a Jazz performance.

Omar Hakim, one of the greatest session drummers out there

By far the most requested miss from my last post was Stewart Copland, who I only neglected 'cause it's hard to find clips of him playing without the Drumeo logo or him stopping to talk to the camera.

Finally, a couple anonymous drummers that I ran across doing shit that I love. This is Soul Bossa Nova (you might know it from Austin Powers)

And this is a cover of Money, by Pink Floyd

Finally, while I tried to avoid any repeat artists from Part 1, this clip by Estepario Siberiano is just a delight to me.

Love both of these lists, may I suggest Blake Richardson from between the buried and me for a third instalment?

Larnell Lewis just YouTube search guy is insane. Lots of first time hearing and just killing it on Drumeo. Probably has the most complete kit in a jazz session in Japan.

Nice dump +1

Great vids. Big fan of Bonham. Absolute legend. I’m also a huge fan of Vinnie Colaiuta and Jimmy Chamberlain.

There's a fantastic video with Bill Bruford and his digital drum kit he uses with yes. But so many pads, but pedals that change what each pad is. Straight up changes the kit for each song. It's nuts.

I just discovered this a few days ago - 8 year old kid covering Neil Peart! The future’s in good hands. https://youtu.be/S3a_qCpaftA?si=QuNsShaodhvWXBia

I love this list. Next time add Bernard Purdie, Jeff Pocaro, Jonathan Sugarfoot Moffatt.

THANK YOU. Don’t tell anyone, but I actually just post these so that people like you will turn me onto new drummers. I mean, I’ve heard of Pocaro, but the other two are new to me.

Would love to see some Ginger Baker clips.

Agreed, and Keith Moon as well. Hard to find clear footage of older artists, usually it’s concert footage in low Rez and the camera keeps cutting back to the other artists.

I got to sit and have a BbQ dinner with the late Richie Hayward of Little Feat and he was so chill and so funny. He ranted for about 5 minutes that nobody made shirts in his size, Extra-Medium

He drummed with so Much finesse and soul…..Miss him at their shows

#1 John Bonham was a fucking god, and I dun care about the decades long arguments or DVs I might get, Zeppelin was the daddy of Metal. ^_- LOL!

Golden Earing's Ceasar Zuiderwijk also still knows how to play the drums.

Thank you! Always up for hearing talent beyond my understanding.

And Bill Ward should have been the first.....

11 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That last one blew my mind

I think it technically counts as juggling.

11 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'd add Carl Palmer to this list: https://youtu.be/gJ_SVVWYMUk

Billy Kreutzman and Mickey Hart Jon Fishman

Thank you.

I love John Bonham and Led Zeppelin, but I wish people showed his genius better than his drum solos. His genius was in the near silent fills and the way he and the band blended together.

11 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Thank you very very much for the observation. His godhood was in the empty spaces and reverberating sound stage of his bass drum

11 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

100%. So hard to find videos of the band playing that focus on him. Always cutting away to one of the other three.

RIP to Les Binks, drummer of Judas Priest who died last month but was only confirmed recently.

11 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Ahh… bummer. RIP indeed. 🤘

Was Daniel Carey included anywhere? Because he should be in here... Twice even.

11 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Danny Carey is a God and that is why I included him on the first one of these posts, linked up above.

Phew... The world makes sense... Great post mate!

#5 Don't know why you don't want the drumeo logo, they do some good stuff and deserve credit for it. Those clips are also weirdly dark.
Here's the "Message in a Bottle" video for Stewart Copeland: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQGdh0kg6gA<br>Here's the "Dance of Eternity" video for Mike Portnoy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49h2BivkQ0s

Their "hears for the first time" series is pretty popular, I've seen posts here for Chad Smith playing 30 Seconds to Mars and Dirk Verbeuren from Megadeth playing Mr Brightside.
Here's one of my personal favorites, Ashton Irwin from 5 Seconds of Summer playing Megadeth.

I love them, I’m just very cautious about posting anything that looks like I’m advertising. I have nothing to do with any websites, promotion-wise.

11 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I think you're good just posting as a fan, especially considering that some people explicitly make meme dumps to promote things.
Speaking of Dance of Eternity, Mike Portnoy made his "Liquid Drum Theater" video back in 2001, and he counted out the time signatures of the last few minutes of the song at one point. :)

Shout out to the support guys like this guy switching Danny Careys(Tool) snare in middle of a song.

Too bad Maynard is a predator. Despite the rape allegations, there's many stories about him having his staff & crew pick out women from the show for him to bang. Like he points at one on stage and then they go get her, offer her a backstage pass and all that, he loosens them up with partying and booze, does his thing and then boots them off.. The stories mention threatening to kick out of the show if they don't go back stage, leaving boyfriend's behind. Shit like that. Quick Google will show

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Holy hell I wish I’d been to a show where they played the grudge. So many good small choices in that song that must be amazing in a live room.

11 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

now that's a drum tech

11 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

He seems so pleased when the new snare is slotted in place.

11 months ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

Right? He looks legit just having a good time, lol.

11 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I guess I just have untrained ears. With the amount of noise made in this clip, I couldn't tell the snare apart from any of the other banging

11 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

The audio being desynced makes it difficult.
Here's a longer and better-synced copy of the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sUOJNbm4vBk

11 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

This was rad, thank you.

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's very clear when it comes back in, it's the slightly higher pitched pop sound at the end ... But I'm also familiar with the song

11 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

one of my fav drummers

11 months ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Mine too. I think of him as the best now that Neil passed away. Also check out Alex Rudinger if you never have.

Man, I saw Rush and when he has his 20 min. Showcase it was wild. Playing behind his back to hit the electronic pads it was insane

11 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

RIP

11 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

He’s in my earlier post, linked above

11 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Have you listened to Akira Jimbo? He’s worthy of a spot for sure.

11 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I mean, shame there's no sound for this clip. Guess I'll just have to access some of my vast Rush library then!

11 months ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 0

Rest in peace, Neil. One of a kind! Read the Geddy Lee autobiography if you haven’t already.

Seconding this, a friend got it for me for Christmas and it is a wonderful Reed

11 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Commenting just in case by some wild miracle someone identifies #6

11 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Been trying to id him for years. Hoping for any possible info that might crop up.

Trap Jazz from Atlanta

11 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Thank you! Mystery solved after all these years.

11 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The drummer's name is Devon Stixx Taylor

11 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

A quick search says it's TrapJazz from Atlanta.

11 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

He's not one of their regular drummers (Nick Smith and Diamond Johnson). I suspect this was a guest performance.

11 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I gave it more than the old college try before giving up

11 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Don't hate me, I just know how to search really well. Trap Jazz band from Atlanta GA

11 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Devon Stixx Taylor, best know for being Justin Bieber's drummer.

11 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

If you want to pay me back, just include II from Sleep Token on your next list. El Estepario Siberiano even praises II and his work.
