Can we please? Jesus I'm so fucking tired. I'm so close to ending it myself but I just fucking can't. I didn't want to fail at everything I guess. Jesus Christ why can't we just fucking get by? Why was even that too much to ask for? Fuck you trump and all his kind! I hope you fucking choke on your goddamned greedy you festering piece of shit! The thought of seeing your carcase brings me pleasant feelings. You keep pushing and you'll find out who the people are. It will happen at some point
Dumbass me thought nuclear mushrooms were fungi that feed on nuclear radiation, like the ones they found in Chernobyl, or some Super Mario shit. Brain's not braining today.
Hard to do any work when half the population wants to tear it all down to spite the brown people that might use it, and the other half think you can debate and vote away an entrenched ideology that calls for the literal extermination of those they deem lesser. They both also view any and all criticism of the systems that perpetuate this sisyphian hell as a personal attack due to rampant tribalism and lack of reading comprehension. But the cost of jumping ship is also prohibitive, so...*shrug*...
That’s why it’s important to go outside for your mental health. Walk near a lake, drive to the mountains, or even near a busy street if there’s not much nature around where you live. I love knowing I could easily fall off a mountain and crack my head open or drown in a lake. Makes breathing easier.
I like how their solution to the poors being poor is to just get another job or side hustle during a time when nobody is hiring and tons of folks getting laid off.
Don't watch it unless you feel like you're in a secure place in your life. I would say that show needs to come with a trigger warning for anyone with suiidal ideation.
I've been looking for almost 2 years, 2000+ applications. 1 interview (rejected). I'm convinced no one is actually hiring. Plenty of scammers calling/emailing constantly though
I just finished my first week of unemployment, I have a promising interview Tuesday, I dont know what I will do if I dont get it , I feel like i could lose everything at any moment
Also a software engineer. It took 6 months for me to land something. 2800 applications that yielded 11 recruiter calls. Those recruiter calls turned into 9 interview processes and eventually 3 offers. Breaking through the AI ATS hiring wall is tough.
Very, very proficient in Apple and iOS and all things tech, got fired in May. I apply to everything on LinkedIn and indeed weekly. Had 3 phone interviews.
Took me 6 months to find a job. At least 1000 apps. Maybe 10 interviews. It’s rough out there right now and it’s gonna get worse with Amazon and Microsoft now dumping out another 20k engineers
I love this website. I graduated from college over a decade ago and posted here I was job hunting. Two people here helped get me interviews at their companies. I hope the kindness never ends.
Have you looked into staffing agencies? Their whole job is to customize your resume to look good and hit the buzzwords that get you an interview. It's all contract work but if the place likes you they may hire you full time, early too. I got laid off a few years back and a staffing agency got me a new job in under a month, and the place hired me full time 3 more months later, making $10/hr more than my last job
youre the product, as the saying goes. they pay you the same no matter the job, they take the difference. the company can skip rules and fees for employees as you are contracted to them. its great for when employees will be out for months or more. youll go in, do the job and they can buy you out from the agency, let your contact expire or let you go.
Nothing. The whole way it works is that you're basically working for someone or a company *through* the staffing agency, i logged my hoursbwith the staffing agency and they paid me while the company inwas doing work for paid the staffing agency
Like others are saying, typically they hire you out for i.e. 13/h but they charge the company 19/h. Some companies can be cool and buyout your contract and just make you an employee, or default on the length of the contract and pull you in. A lot of times though, they'll pull you in at a rate between what they paid and what you got, so they don't keep paying extra. They recoup some money from the temp cost but you're happy making more, without knowing. However your foots in the door.
I've worked with a few staffing agencies in the past, and none of them ever charged me a dime. The catch is that working through a staffing agency will earn you less, because they take a cut of what you earn. The company pays the agency, the agency takes a percentage, and you get the rest.
Also make sure to exhaust your leads locally from any former coworkers or friends that may be hiring. What you really don't want to do is end up at the same company you could have been directly hired at and lose out on benefits for yourself and a headhunter bonus for your friend.
Spent two months in and out of interviews for one job; got down to one of two final candidates. Wasn't picked. Two months wasted, gotta start all over after being so close I could taste it. Gutted.
You can easily be replaced by AI when there is a general misbelief of what AI is capable of and a stubborn management system who refuse to accept that they made a mistake in judgement. They do layoffs and will double down when it fails.
They said they were a software engineer. That field is fucked right now with all the tech companies contracting all at once. It's something that needs more than just a LinkedIn glow up to land a job

Better hope you’re close enough. It’s not gonna be pleasant or wistful for survivors

You're getting Job Rejections?
ArcaneM37
I've been looking since the new year. Losing hope hard. How is two bachelors, one being in materials engineering, insufficient?

I'm sidelined for the winter myself, waiting to see if mother nature grants me the gift of learning to do controlled burns this year.

Some places actually send rejection letters. But yeah I've gotten several job interviews and no rejection responses.

Getting rejections? Nice! I'm just getting ghosted.

Yeah, it would solve a lot of problems.

Got laid off 6 weeks ago, 500+ applications out, only 2 interviews (rejected from both), and I’m an experienced software engineer… I know the pain

9 months looking for a job. Lost account of how many applications I sent. But I finally landed a great one! Don't give up🙏

For me it’s 9 weeks. Similar situation.

Laid off two months ago, yeah probably 300 - 400 applications and only two interviews. 15 years analytical experience. It's rough out there.

You can be "replaced" by "AI" now.
At least that's what the dumbest people in the world (who happen to run every fucking company) think.

That is not really reassuring for me as someone that wants to switch to being a software engineer

Physical industries are more in demand. Machining, fabrication, etc. Fuck it, go into semiconductors?
BeingTheGuythatshere
Hm with almost 40 physical labour is not really in the reach. But thanks for the advice I will think about that

As a hobby, right?!

Nope. As a job im currently in costumer support and i can't stand it anymore.
