The secret world of Alex Mac got really weird towards the end.

Fred Krueger.

It wasn't unrealistic but kind of betrayed the idea that the show was 'by nerds for nerds'. Show writers didn't care about her either.

What is this? I don’t remember seeing it on Stranger things

This from the after-show, Beyond Stranger Things.

It's almost like some movies and TV shows have characters who aren't meant to be important.

Like Chuck, the older brother in Happy Days.

Nancy was that character. If they were a little braver with their writing she would have been monster chow.

Well to be fair they were made to think the much older young adult had run away. By people who can make Will dolls in a day. So.

Will Byers Mom was a single parent. You don’t mess with that.

HOABS OH AEO HELL EVERYWHERE

Sadly, there's a lot of reality in this. Like the massive searches for one missing teenager turning up the bodies of other missing kids.

If you go missing. it helps if the chief of police wants to bang your mom.

But they found her car and then it went missing so they thought she just left

The bad men staged it. Put her car at a bus station and made it seem like she was just an unhappy teenager who left home

Why would you drive your car to a bus station then take a bus? Just leave in your car..

You can track license plates

8 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 1

not so much back then.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 16

When exactly do you think they started using license plates in investigations and missing persons cases

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Except just like Will multiple characters had proof this wasn't the case. It's not their fault though, it's just not great writing.

Do you think the same of someone who dies first in a horror movie with no backstory? Some characters are literally JUST MEANT TO DIE.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

But compare it with Scream if you like. Spoiler alert. Drew Barrymore dies in the first five minutes and yet her character serves a function

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Very few horror movies have good enough writing where that is a comparison worth making. We're not talking about an 80 minute horror movie.

The main reason people complain about Barb is they see her as themselves and feel she is done in a tv as they are in real life. That's all

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Right, she is relatable, and that's a good thing. People should relate to a character who is warm of spirit and supportive.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

The writers made a choice to not follow a character who is underexplored on TV - instead they followed Nancy, who is (as she says) a cliche.
