I thought those first ones were Ruben sandwiches

Why does it have to be fancy? I just want sausage, mash and a bit of cake!

Yeah it's almost like Edmonton can't figure out what's good, great places like this have to close, Julios has a fucking line of people.

I tried to help a local chocolattier with his internet presence. Food is a labor or love.

So the bakery is called "The Ball"?

4 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

It also refers to a round loaf of crusty bread.

Let's have a ball and a biscuit sugar

In French a baker is a 'Boulanger' ie a maker of balls, because of the original shape of French loaves which were closest to a 'cob' shape.

Oh man I loved that place. So bummed when it closed. Hope they reopen somewhere one day. Those scones are amazing!

Anyone know why they closed?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They didn't renew their lease. Landlord probably drove up the rent. It was a big problem 10 years ago that forced a lot of small biz out.

I had the carrot cake (top right in 2nd pic) and it was amazingggg

It was a bakery in Edmonton, Alberta. Well known in the area for its scones, sourdough, and the amazing cakes and eclairs etc. 1/2

Annoyingly closed in mid 2021 because, rumour has it, the landlord jacked up the rent. 2/2

It was just off Whyte Ave. Not surprised if that’s why it closed. Expensive real estate there.

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

So what was the name of it?

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I didn’t even know it was a thing, I’ve always gone to the duchess, high dough pizza is awesome though.
