Does anyone remember the Sesame Street where Ernie was dressed up as King Tut? That segment scared the shit out of me when I was a kid.

This is by far one of the most interesting things I've seen on Imgur in a long time

268 in pic 8 is discarded and can be seen in next pic tossed aside. Clear evidence the Patriots cheated....wake up sheeple!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Its not tossed aside.. Its between the two pictures and is placed on an additional trunk in the rear.

Oh can we see the non-color ones and read some more about it? @OP

What if the ancient Egyptians had the afterlife thing right and we're just fucking up their eternity

10 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 1

they had a good 3000 years.

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

At what point does it stop being grave robbery?

10 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Have a minute to look around and then we'll start the bidding.

Return the slab.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

****DID YOU GUYS HEAR**** they are excavating a nearby wall which may contain another tomb, possibly Nefertiti

10 years ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 0

Honestly, the idea that ppl lived for 1000s of yrs before us, created civilisation, led their lives.... It's fucking amazing.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Was thinking the same thing. Like, I know all that is real and from thousands of years ago but It's super hard to wrap my head around it.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Imagine how incredible it must have been to discover this... Also I like how theyre touching it with their bare hands. 2015? Hazmat suits.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

As an archaeologist and Antiquities Cataloguer. Personally handling artifacts is exactly why I do it.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I cannot imagine how exciting it must have been to walk into that room..errr tomb.

10 years ago | Likes 200 Dislikes 0

Tomb room?

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I was about to say how crazy it must have been for that first guy to find that opening to the tomb... Surreal...

10 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

So real...

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

so you are telling me that you got aaalllllll that loot in the same dungeon raid? I don't believe you.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Just looking at these gives me the creeps because of all the history behind it.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The last picture is King Tut himself when he was in South America studying for finals.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

True story: Egyptian cleaners recently broke off Tut's chin piece whilst cleaning. The cleaners reattached it with epoxy resin. It's a mess.

That belongs in a museum!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So do you, Dr. Jones!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

If I were a man, I would have gotten a boner. Beautiful photos!!!

The image of a Pharoah's tomb in my mind is majestic, but it really looked like my basement with piles of crap and graffiti.

Tutankhamun's tomb was a rushjob. He died unexpectedly at 19 years old and they had to improvise. Other tombs are beautifully decorated.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'm not sure his is the best example for the grandeur of Egyptian tombs. His was put together quickly since he died young unexpectedly.

How come I ain't never seen this episode of Storage Wars?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Today, on Hoarders

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And the winner of Storage Wars 1922 is Howard Carter and George Herbert.

I want to make multiple accounts to upvote you multiple times. Comment of the day. Period.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

storage wars was exactly what I was thinking of too.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Still sad and uber gross so many mummies were lost during these times to be ground and used for medicinal purposes!

10 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 2

Don't forget fertilizer, paper, and fuel.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Some where used to make paint.

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

People won't get fancy dressed up for anything nowadays but these guys are excavating a tomb in suits. What a different time it was indeed.

10 years ago | Likes 117 Dislikes 3

Put them on for the photos most likly.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 9

I feel like nowadays if such a big discovery was made they'd go in with full gowns, booties and gloves though.

10 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Materials technology has made vast progresses for fashion.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

This is borderline Neckbeard territory. You might want to be careful.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Where is all of the grain though?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Imagine if they really did take it all to the afterlife. If we take it do they lose it? Like Tut's enjoying some tea and his cup just *pof*.

10 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

In his native tongue, he just sighs and says "Fucking graverobbers."

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I can't wait until they discover the tomb of Nefertiti, they think that's it's right next to Tuts tomb in a hidden part of the temple

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

You'd think a king's final resting place would be better organized.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not like he's going to yell at them for not being organized, heh.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's neat, but if you think about it it's actually pretty messed up to just take him from his resting place and disturb his remains and such

10 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

The King's mummy remains in his tomb, sealed in its coffin. The rest of the (thousands) of items are in the Cairo Museum.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Or stolen off to museums all over the world, to be profited by governments refusing to return the stuff to Egypt.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"Stolen" is harsh: most of them were taken as part of agreements. University/museum funds excavation, gets second-pick of the remains.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

aaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnddddd you're cursed

10 years ago | Likes 558 Dislikes 3

Exactly.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

HUUUUUUUUGS

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Dis place is cursed

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"What is it with you and curses?"

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

One theory is that the first ones to open the tomb got a dose of whatever deadly bacteria was inside from yesteryear.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

And/or discovered an extra Stargate

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

What is with you and curses. "This is cursed. That is cursed. We're all cursed."

10 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

lol i was going to say this but you got here 1st

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Funniest part of that movie. I quote it with my best friend during Pathfinder all the time XD

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

True. Egyptians took their grain security very serious.
