We should do the same when the regime thing is over but with bankers, politicians and brokers.

yeah and we're in desperate need for more doctors and nurses :)

When you have idiots in power, they make dumb decisions. When you have criminals in power, they make corrupt decisions. Both of these statements apply to the Grifter in Chief and those he puts in positions to support him.

4 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

No, it doesn’t necessarily mean your degree is “less valid” fundamentally — it’s more about student loan policy (which programs get access to higher loan caps).

4 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

jeus fuk me you asholez..and WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU FARGING ICEHOLES

I was going to respond with "Buddy, how much time you got for an answer" but yours sums it up

4 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Lol, as an NP I have three separate state licenses I maintain, a board certification, and a DEA license. I manage my own patients and could own and operate my own private practice if I chose not to work with a physician. But.... I'm not a "professional?" I hope the nurse's association absolutely eats these people ALIVE for this. Nurses keep the healthcare industry operational and in general this is not a group of people one should fuck with.

4 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Hurting people is their intent

4 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

List of degrees no longer to be classified as professional is not accurate. Correct list is: Nursing, Physician assistants, Physical therapists, Audiologists, Architects, Accountants, Educators and Social workers. Serious issue regardless. Story here: https://www.newsweek.com/full-list-degrees-professional-trump-administration-11085695

4 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I guess...prepare to lose all your Engineers to other countries?

4 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I know everyone is upset about nurses being on that list (and rightly so), but as a teacher, WTF?

4 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Tell that to my wife who has been an RN since 1992.

4 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

So what IS a professional degree?

4 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Business, the degree of useless failsons

4 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Divinity, by the looks of it

4 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Law. Not that you'll get paid by this administration

4 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Finance, I guess.

4 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You'd never guess but President

4 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm guessing they chose ones that they think are too woke, whatever that even means, or too touchy-feely or something, and I gotta say engineering feels like it doesn't really belong there.

4 months ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Yeah, having spent a career in engineering, not exactly woke land. Some places are quite progressive, especially in the professional office spaces, but as soon as you have to build a thing.... Your experience may vary.

4 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And it is not actually on the list. The post is a bit inaccurate.

4 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

engineering?

4 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

All of these occupations have a kind of coherence in Trump fuckery land - targeting jobs performed predominantly by women - but engineering?

Dropping engineers from government recognition opens the door for dismissing engineering opinion as unprofessional and unexpert. Expect an exponential uptick in shit builds, on top of existing shit builds, with a supreme court ruling in support.

Trillions in rorts 'n' torts, hidden behind misogyny, already costing us trillions.

4 months ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 0

Engineering is to be outsourced to AI, I would imagine.

4 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I had commented much the same on a post where it was about nursing specifically. Every job in this list with the notable exception of engineering are fields dominated by women. That's not an accident. I can't help but wonder if the inclusion of engineering is only so they can claim it isn't specifically about punishing women.

4 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Because he is going to bring them all in from China and India or outsorce it.

4 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Shit, outsource.

4 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I thought the department of education was dismantled by elons sycophants.

4 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Unbefuckinlievable, or just another Trump idiousy. "The President's Brain is missing" seems to be traditional. Swinglish, otherwise would sign.

4 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Also: Engineering?! Could the rulers of China and Russia wish for more to neuter the American military?

4 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Jesus wept.

4 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I kind of feel like an aging man with cardiac and neurological symptoms would try and fund nurses as much as his tiny hands would allow...

4 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Educated people are a threat to a fascist system. This office is no longer worthy of its name...

4 months ago | Likes 190 Dislikes 0

Nursing also was and has been basically a guaranteed path into middle class and independence for women which they cannot have that.

4 months ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 0

Taking away the professional designation means they will no longer be required to report child abuse. The party of pedophiles wants to make it as hard as possible to get caught when they rape children.

4 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Looks like paddling is back on the menu. /s if it wasn't obvious.

4 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh, havent thought about it, thank you!

4 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

oh this could be it...Watch the nurses shut down the entire healthcare system

4 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Engineering? I mean they are all professions that are absolutely vital and spend years of work and large sums of money obtaining, but engineering?

4 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I don't quite understand the significance of this.

Is this just limiting the ability of people in these programs from getting federal loans?

(And I don't mean to use "just" to downplay significance, merely limit scope). Is there more to it?

I don't know what this new reclassification actually means.

4 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Wait .. what is actually left? Economists and lawyers?

Education, Nursing, and Engineering? Jesus fucking Christ. I literally can't think of anything more eternally damaging to the US than exactly every thing they have done so far, but this is going to fuck us for decades.

4 months ago | Likes 105 Dislikes 0

More like a century

4 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

And teaching... idk why people are missing that teaching is on this list.

4 months ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 1

Because it's the least surprise. I am a teacher myself and I was sure it would be in there. They have been going against education since Reagan.
Engineering is the thing I can't believe...

4 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

As a therapist, I am not surprised we are on there but you have to have a masters degree to get licensed and that will now be prohibitively expensive. Also they love to blame violence in society on mental health yet they undermine and defund us at every turn. Universal Healthcare for All!

Thank you for your hard work as a teacher, there is little thanks for professions that require the level of care and attention yours requires.

4 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thanks for your good wishes. I live in Germany, and while there have been some animosities against teachers in general it is a well respected profession and it is paid very well.

My wife has been suffering from severe depression all her life and it almos broke my family apart six years ago. Without good therapists and good medication she would not be with us anymore... Luckily we have (pretty much) free healthcare here. Therapists save lives and families, there is no denying that.

4 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And how did they come up with those idiotic ideas? Each one of those professions require several years of theory and practical training. How many years of professional study did the person who made THAT decision go through? Let them show their professional accreditation to prove they know what they are talking about and THEN for them to show their reasoning and proof approved and agreed by their peers (and not political peers). Can't do that? Then fuck off.

4 months ago | Likes 50 Dislikes 0

Look at if they have unions and then who those unions endorsed.

4 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Presumably, it lets them fuck with people who have loans, without needing congress to pass legislation. That's it. They don't need any other justifications. They want to hurt people in poverty or with educations, because they're fascists.

4 months ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 0

Except for engineering, all these professions are, or would seem to someone with little knowledge, to be female-dominated. This is another thing Republicans are doing to eliminate women from public life.

4 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

they hate America

4 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Even if they could produce anything agreed to by their peers, they can still fuck the hell off!

4 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Here in Norway a politician recently suggested that we stop educating people in degrees "we don't need". He's only finished high school and doesn't know what the fuck he's talking about.

4 months ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

Tell him to shut up. And His views are worthless

4 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Formally/technically, a professional degree would be doctor, lawyer, etc. - a Juris Doctor, which lawyers are required to have in the US, is not the same thing as a PhD in law - the JD is a "professional" degree. But practically speaking, all of these are professional degrees.

4 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Some states do not require a JD to pass the bar. https://legalclarity.org/what-states-can-you-take-the-bar-without-a-law-degree/

Similarly, the PE is a professional licensure. The entry exam FE (which allows one to become an EIT) requires either a degree from an ABET/EAC accredited institution. https://ncees.org/exams/fe-exam/

Some US states allow PE licensure with only passing scores on both exams and an intermediate apprenticeship under another PE. https://njspe.org

4 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I mean, sure, but that's besides the point. JDs, MDs, etc. are specifically classified as professional degrees - it is a specific category of degrees in academia. Bar licensure is required to practice law. Medical licensure is required to practice medicine. PEs are limited to civil engineering and construction - the vast majority of engineers out there don't have them and their jobs don't require them.

The Trump admin thinks it’s about trains

4 months ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

I used to say that if Trump said trains aren't real his people would jump in front of a train and it seems like it's coming very close to him actually fucking saying that out loud

4 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeeeeup. And you know why they're doing this?

So the most highly educated employees in the US will be foreign workers on H1B visas.

H1B visa holders are the perfect people according to the GOP: they can't vote, they contribute enormous amounts of taxes to the US, and their visa can be revoked at ANY TIME.

4 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The one that now cost 100,000 dollars

4 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No, it really doesn't. That's the stated cost, but they also said they will make exceptions for anyone who asks. So basically they want to be bribed, and then they'll accept the old fee.

4 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah I saw engineering and was like, that's so broad! The whole thing is stupid, but just putting engineering shows how dumb they are.

4 months ago | Likes 55 Dislikes 0

They have Boeing managers in charge of this decision...

4 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Uh, I'm pretty sure Boeing would be very much against this change - you can't get engineers domestically if the country isn't producing them. And oftentimes, foreign engineers can be a lot more expensive - and in this case with Trump, it is! H1-B's now have a 100k fee...

4 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

STEM and alot of non-doctor treatment, preposterously broad stroke changes

4 months ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Engineering is only one letter in STEM.

4 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Ah yes. I forgot about those degrees in Science and Technology.

Jesus fuck dude. Wake up. Everything under the STEM label is considered Engineering for purposes of a university degree.

Trump wants only H1B engineers in the US. They contribute massive amounts to taxes, can't vote, and can be deported at any time. They're the perfect class of engineer for a fascist government.

4 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

thats nonsense, sciences are "Bachelor/Master of Science", math is sometimes even labeled under "philosophy" at some unversities...

4 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Congrats on deliberately misunderstanding what I said.

4 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Oh, that's astonishing, if true. In Switzerland, and I think most of Europe, something like Physics (Science) or Math (Science) is taught at University, but something like Electrical Engineering has its own dedicated engineering school for higher education. The only thing I know that is a bit weird in this regard is Computer Science, which is both taught at Uni and also at the dedicated engineering schools.

4 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The US used to have dedicated engineering schools, but they're long gone. There may be a handful left, but they're not popular. Whatever type of science/engineering degree you want, it'll be at a university. Massachusetts Institute of Technology is one of the premier engineering unis. University of Washington (state, not DC) is another.
