We have been planning this trip for several months and I'm kind of close with his girlfriend but we have never spent 96 hours straight until now. She felt excluded when we would go out and he and I would meet people since we are semi-social and apparently she's not. She starts treating me like shit and getting mad all the time, it got to the point where we all had enough and so I called her out. My friend takes her side and we all decide it would be best if I go alone and finish the trip so they can have a romantic trip.

I'm traveling to London - Fance - Italy - Austria - Germany. If any of you know cool spots or want to grab a pint I could use a friend.

I just find this entire thing ironic since the problem stemmed from her feeling left out and now I'm left alone. Fuck.

Sorry about your friend dude but ultimately I think you win

Your buddy will be the one that regrets it later

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Late commenting, buuuut seems like a great opportunity for a London imgurian meetup. (Even better, imgurian meetup anywhere OP shows up to)

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

never underestimate the power of trim to horny people. your friend is being a dipshit and his GF never wanted you there. remember it.

8 years ago | Likes 58 Dislikes 5

It sounds like you wanted to go on a trip with your friend and you treated it like you were with him+1 rather than with two separate people.

8 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 7

I happen to agree with you on this one. Not fun to be the 3rd wheel as the girlfriend I'd imagine

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

You're gonna have a sick time without them, especially with this story to open with, get out of London and go to Bristol, I recommend.

8 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 2

That's a shitty way to treat a friend. I'm Cambridge (U.K) let me know if you visit, I'll gladly buy you that pint. Good luck fella

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

@AnorexicSpermWhale oooh when when are you in London? Will never turn down the offer of a pint!

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Tomorrow!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Fuck both of them off, your buddy is an asshole and his girlfriend is a shitty human.

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 3

Don't know if your still in london or not been yet but I'd be happy to grab a pint with you

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I'll be there tomorrow

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

@op come to Amsterdam, i'd show you around, I'd like to see the faces when I'm walking with an AnorexicSpermWhale

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

From Rotterdam, but if you're heading over I'm inclined to join in a pint

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hit me up!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He's been whipped, son.

8 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 8

Whipped like the family pig

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yo! I live in London. If you fancy grabbing a pint just let me know! Or if you want interesting non tourist places to go to x

8 years ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 1

I'm also London based, always up for shenanigans, and have a spare bedroom if needed

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

@op

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

i also live in london and want in on these shenanigans.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I live in London, I could show you some hotspots and grab a pint with ya' anytime. PM me.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

She didn't feel "left out" because she wasn't excluded. She was jealous. Now that you've learned a lesson go make some cool new friends.

8 years ago | Likes 134 Dislikes 6

This is it, also doesn't appear to be a backpacking "type" it seems like a trip for the guys that she insisted on coming along to.

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

OP said she felt left out because they would literally go out without her :/

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 9

Because she didn't want to go out is as he stated it. Either way, if the trip was originally planned with just the two friends 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

She should have backed off, I literally got put in a similar circumstance recently, and have been on both sides. It sends red flags not to.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

They're backpacking Europe. The whole trip is 'going out'. If she wasn't a social butterfly imagine how much more isolated she felt by 1

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 7

Being left behind in a foreign country. Dude was right to respect his SO's feelings. 2/2

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 8

He worded it poorly but I believe all 3 went out and she wouldn't be social

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Where you going to in Italy?

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Well we were going to Rome now I'm thinking just one place then going up to Austria.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

@op I was going to ask the same...

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I've successfully pulled off a trip with my gf and best friend before. The trick was not drinking on the trip

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 3

The trick is "don't date a selfish cunt"

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

So not worth.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Sort of sounds like this trip was doomed from the start, with you being the odd man out and all...

8 years ago | Likes 67 Dislikes 9

Disagree. She just sucks. Spent long trips with my buddy and his GF, THEY kept asking if I don't feel awkward with just them, I loved it

8 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 3

Not saying such things can't work out, just that there appears to have been signs of it being disastrous from the start.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

for the entirety of our time. Just gotta land the right people and it doesn't matter how many of you there are.

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Yeah being the third wheel is only awkward if the people you're with aren't really your friends.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

O.o said it was originally just the two of them- before they started getting serious. He decided to invite her to tag along...

8 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 2

So really she's the odd man out

8 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 1

That didn't come out till later. Though it seems like there were plenty of warning signs.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think OP & friend "planned" on planning a trip but dude got into a serious relationship & as a part of his life now she was included 1

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

when actual plans were made. You don't just plan to leave your life behind for a month & oh gee, honey did you want in on this? 2

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

You know, just to tag along while me & my friend hang out together? 3/3

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

You seem hardcore to be siding against OP... ????, why? Why are you so upset by this? (You can pm if you want)

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

This too would make sense

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Are you going to visit Stuttgart, Germany? I own a beer garden, and it is in walking distance to our beer fest ;-) @AnorexicSpermWhale

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Vienna, Austria here. Hmu if you need a couch or wanna hang out.

8 years ago | Likes 625 Dislikes 2

Vienna here too, msg if you want to grab a second beer

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wish I knew this when I went to Vienna! @OP it's a beautiful place, definitely enjoy it

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'd have a beer too

8 years ago | Likes 61 Dislikes 0

Hi... Fellow Bavarian.. Ex Wurzburger here.. In US now

In California now. I miss Wurzburg.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Us army dad.. Mom and I born there.. She's going back there with my dad later this month.. I'd kill for the small brats in the market

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'll be in vienna in 2 weeks. Hostel southwest of downtown. Cant wait!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Vienna's dope op, see as much as you can.

8 years ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 0

True that

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Read that as "bang." I thought, "my, that's awfully forward"

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hit up the Travel Shack in Vienna. Tons of tourists there to hang out with

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

seconded - going there all next week

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm in Paris too! Totally down to meet up

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

One word Octoberfest

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

She's your friend's no1 priority, which means making her feel comfortable/included should be pretty high up on your list as well.

8 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 10

oh look someone actually intelligent.. thank god. all these comments are like "your friends shit and she's a bitch" instead of the facts..

8 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 10

That's a big trip for some. I'm not calling her a b, but damn that sucks the friend couldn't find a meeting ground.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Eh, she pushed to come along on someone else's trip and if OP is right didn't try to have fun. I'm not very social but I make an effort 1

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 4

To be when I'm dragged along by friends. The fact she wanted to turn the trip into a romantic getaway when that's not what it was does 2

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 4

In fact make her a bitch. 3

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 4

The problem is that you believe @op on his word. He obv had a bad time and he is looking to put the blame for that on someone else.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

your buddy's girl be like:

8 years ago | Likes 1003 Dislikes 15

v

8 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

And @Op is like

8 years ago | Likes 195 Dislikes 3

Her left thumb is weird...looks crazy long.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 6

Would still smash without hesitation.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Smash

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Smash

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Smash

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

She's making an odd fist. I can make my hand look the same but it feels uncomfortable (nails digging into palm).

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Girls generation?

8 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 6

Yup. Deffo Yoona ;)

8 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 4

Yoona best girl.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

Does anyone here speak English?

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

아니!

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

@OP, i traveled alone to australia when my buddy broke his leg. i banged ALL the chicks. traveling alone is the best you meet way more ppl

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 3

You only meet more people if you're the social type.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

you're the social type if you drink

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I don't. Nor do I wan't to. I honestly have no idea why anyone likes getting drunk.'

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 5

Queer

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

getting drunk is no good, getting a three drink buzz is good

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Don't go to London, it's the least English city in England. You'd be better off going further North to see castles, the lake district etc.

8 years ago | Likes 46 Dislikes 8

i'm curious as to your scale for Englishness now.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

No true scottsman theory?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

He's probably here for two days, arriving in London and leaving from London. If he's under 30 he should hit W1 and get fucked up.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

London's great but expensive. Spend a day walking round the main sights of Westminster and Covent Garden for the atmosphere & experience ½

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Then use it as a base to go elsewhere e.g. Cambridge Oxford Brighton The Cotswolds 2/2

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Or the real north ... Feeling like A wildling here

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The Lake District is one of the most friendly places too!

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Having lived here for 23 years, I would have to disagree with this statement. You need to know the city well though.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Sounds like it couldn't be helped. She's boring, but your friend likes her more than you, for w/e reason. I say just enjoy yourself

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 4

Tits. It's always the tits.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

You can get tits everywhere but a good friend is hard to come by.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Skip the rest of the trip and go straight to Amsterdam.

8 years ago | Likes 890 Dislikes 39

Dont go straight to Amsterdam its a shity city

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 5

Same goes for Paris; west / south coasts of France are best. Berlin is nice though, Austria is amazing, and 100% Amsterdam. 2/2

8 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Check out Prague after Amsterdam! And word on the street when I was over there was to hit up Croatia.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

ditch amsterdam, come to Rotterdam!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Oh yes yes yes

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

oh god no. amsterdam is ok for 2 days max so it's seen, but seriously overrated.Berlin, Bruxells, Tallinn - all cheaper and better

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

Or to somewhere fun

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As a person who lives near Amsterdam: stay there for 3 days max. There is loads of other stuff to do in The Netherlands!

8 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 1

what they say about rotterdam...no just no, go for gouda, delft, leiden, maastricht, bergen op zoom. just never rotterdam never

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

^This. Visit Haarlem, Rotterdam, Utrecht for example.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

ROTTERDAMMMM

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Efteling; Chocomel; bitterballen; poffertjes; bike ride. Job done.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Stroopwafels!!!!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You can get those in lots of places outside the Netherlands, though.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Yes this guy is talking like a real friend would've!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You should have known better. Ever heard the term "Third Wheel." Tagging along with a couple on a trip is not a good plan.

8 years ago | Likes 916 Dislikes 67

Nah, see, I have several pairs of friends who are couples who I know I could go on a trip with and have no problems.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Just depends on your friends.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Only if the couple are a couple of assholes.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Classic take of whore invites herself to a party and ruins everyone's fun.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

it can be a lot of fun if everyone feels comfortable with each other. my bf and I traveled with his bff around Prague and had a great time

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

It can be if the couple isn't shitty

8 years ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 3

This is true, I once went on a trip with my friend and her Girlfriend at the time to visit Lake George NY, it was a great trip

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

everyone involved has to be not-shitty.

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Exactly. A good SO respects friends of their lover.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Can confirm. Went to Japan with my husband and a mutual friend of ours. Tons of fun was had. We all want to go again.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I've done lots of vacations as a 3rd wheel with my brother and his wife. Key is being good friends with both (and not everything together)

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Salt and pepper.... and cumin!

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

The friend should know better. This isn't a "go to the mall" thing we're talking about here. This is a "you're not really my friend" thing.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The phrase is "fifth wheel" (which is the spare/extra wheel for a car), not "third wheel." Third wheels are necessary.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

Had a friend who constantly third-wheeled to the point where she showed up on dates. Bf allowed it, she continued it despite me asking

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

them both to stop. They didn't. I dumped him. Still don't like the girl very much.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

She literally said things like "Hey I made plans with your boyfriend! Want to join us?"

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

She was literally trying to include you too and that bothered you?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yup, because my boundaries were constantly disrespected by both. I felt completely forgotten and ignored. I asked them to put some space in

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Start there. But also realize your buddy chose sex over your friendship.

8 years ago | Likes 56 Dislikes 9

Duh

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

Honestly I don't think either of them are really friends with OP. That's shitty of both of them

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Holy shit she's insane.

8 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 2

Sounds like projection on her part.

8 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 2

Then that friend isn't really your friend.

8 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 3

Nobody is "Really" your friend.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 16

See, at first I figured there are two sides to this story...but damn! Wtf??

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I thought that being serious means you try your best to trust each other and stuff, silly me

8 years ago | Likes 91 Dislikes 1

You're not allowed to cry foul from the friendzone.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 8

WOAH big red flag there!!

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Here's your sign...

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I think your buddy needs to see this

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Agreed.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

honestly, im so sorry about what happened but i hope youd still be his friend. its a hard choice and its one im sure he sad at making

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah, shes a cunt, and he aint your friend if he ditched you just like that.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

So she hijacked your trip, then tossed you out?

8 years ago | Likes 246 Dislikes 1

Basic strategy, divide and conquer.

8 years ago | Likes 58 Dislikes 0

Happened to me. Turned my friend against me and now I haven't talked to either for several years now

8 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

Yup, fell you there. Something similar, just I tried do mantain contact and i go visit him from time to time

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Woo woo trust issues

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well, bollocks for both of you, he's dating a cunt and you're out a mate. Find some hookers and blow?

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 5

He's close enough to amsterdam to get some hookers and hash.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

wher ther is hookers ther is blow.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Your friend is a fucking idiot and she needs a therapist.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I wouldn't consider someone like that your friend.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

She sounds great. Stay away or your car tires will be slashed too

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Call your friend and tell him to ditch the girl somewhere, right now.

I'm curious why? If what you thought was your best friend on a trip you two planned, abandoned you is he really your friend?.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I would ditch the friend, too. If this was really a trip they planned together I wouldn't want to be around that person anymore.

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

OP should ditch both her and best friend. Bros before hoes.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Fuck that, his "friend" ditched him in another country on a trip they planned together. I'd probably cut ties there and then.

8 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

People who have cheated themselves are usually the ones that are the most worried about their partner cheating in my experience

8 years ago | Likes 69 Dislikes 6

True, they're posessive people

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Or people who were cheated on. I was, I still get jealous. Don't know why.

8 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 0

Or people who just have trust issues for other reasons. For me it was because my mom constantly lied to me and broke promises growing up.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Not necessarily true. I'm not a cheater and not generally insecure but can be jealous as fuck at times. I've been cheated ON though, so..

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

I worried about it since everything I'm happy about has a tendency to get shafted. hell the guy I was supposed to intern under just died.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The fact hat she has a vagina that your friend wants to be inside of means you will always lose this battle. Even if you are right.

8 years ago | Likes 75 Dislikes 4

As a man of the rainbow cloth, this is 100% accurate. I don't trust anyone anymore because of this. I'm sorry you found out this way.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Honestly that speaks volumes about his friend. I have a strong disrespect for people that pull that kind of shit.

8 years ago | Likes 57 Dislikes 3

Yeah, my brother's best friend at the time slept with my brother's girlfriend. A lot. He gave my brother and his gf herpes, which is how>

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

>he found out

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This. A real friend puts you before getting laid. If they don't, you don't mean as much to them as you think.

8 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 1

So...bros before hoes?

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Go visit Tuscany, in Italy. It's an amazing place!

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Any recommendations?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

San Gimignano!!! And surrounding area - so amazing. Get the Vernaccia wine (local white) and make sure to eat Florentine steak.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Next week I'll be in Florence, Sienna, Lucca and Pisa. You could skip Pisa, but the rest are solid. Also see: Sorrento. If you get chance >

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Whaat! I'm going early Oct. and our trip is Rome, then Florence and then back up to Milan

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Never been to Milan :(. Florence is great - there's a viewing platform above the city. Go in the cathedral and over Ponte Vecchio bridge.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

head up Montecatini Alto. Accessible by a cool hill rail, it looks over a bit of Tuscany.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That looks great, thanks!
