Tl:Dr losing weight, putting it out there.

So it's time to knock drinking on the head and get in shape.
Got two young kids and I wanna be there for them and be more able to run and play and laugh.
Apparently, it'll help mental health too which I need, so lots of wins.

So I'm gonna lose weight, thought I'd log it here to hold myself to it. I hope.

270lbs as the start.

#accountability #weight_loss #health

MV: most viral while I slept, and I didn't drink or eat a thing thay whole time, yay me.
Seriously though, thanks everyone for such great support. I'll keep posting, I think it may help my shitty follow through.

Another edit:
Firstly to say thank you to all of you. What an epic amount of support and kind words for something I feel kinda stupid about and was just trying to make myself accountable. You are all awesome.

Secondly, I am gonna do a charity thing to get myself moving with money going to charity and being doubled by my company, so thought I'd add the link.
Ignore it if you feel it's shitty, but I'm working on improvement, and this seemed a good opportunity.

I've lost over a hundred pounds. It seems impossible, but it's not.

I really hope so, thanks friend!

You got this!! Try not to get discouraged too if it doesn't go at the speed you're aiming for, as long as you keep at it it'll happen!

it's not called fat, it's called reserve food layer.

You're making a good decision. I just started on a sobriety journey myself, so you have my support! Sending you good vibes!

Sounds good

And to you, good luck. I'm terrified. I did a bbq and stayed sober and had this sense of "these guys are kinda boring", it was very hard.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That's something I worry about too... Well, that I won't be any fun anymore, but all my friends are being very supportive. You'll find ways to have fun without the drinking I'm sure. I believe in you.

Drinking nothing but water is a great start to weight lose and just feeling better in general. A lot of people are used to being dehydrated and leads to feeling uncomfortable and just wanting to drink anything you can get your hands on which for a lot of people is Pop or Alcohol

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Truth.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Getting a re usable 1 liter water bottle that was easy to clean and I could put icecubes in so it stays cold longer was a clutch start. I would drink 8-12 disposable water bottles a day otherwise and thats a lot of money and waste over the course of a year that just doesnt need to happen.

Excellent tip, thanks so much!

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Bro, I could have written this word for word. Unfortunately I got you by about 40lbs but...same. Good luck to you!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You working on it still? How's it going? Tips?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Going slower than I hoped. I have had a hard time cutting out fast-food but have been focusing on eating out less and when I do, smaller portions. Going for a walk every day with my kids when it's not too awful out (heat advisory this week), cutting down on frequency of drinking (football season is gonna be tough) but have started using zero sugar mixes for cocktails. It's all baby steps but a tolerable place to start.

It's always worked for me!

Take it slow at first and don't get frustrated when you don't see the pounds start falling off. I would start with calorie counting and sugar content in the food and drink. Water should be and will be your best friend on your journey. Another thing i wish i thought about was juicing those veggies you might not want to eat or have no time to prepare on the stove. my fav is green smoothie with a few pineapple chunks.

It really is a permanent change. I've been losing weight - and trying to keep it off - for almost two years now. Accepting that this is the way I have to live - i.e. really changing your lifestyle permanently - can be difficult. Every kg lost is a battle won. Good luck with yours.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah, thats what is so terrifying. Lol. I'm going for it though. Good luck to you too!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Your reasons for doing this are your strength - keep them in mind and you’ll succeed.

My starting weight was 278.4 lbs. I weighed in today at 199 lbs. Doing low carb. Still another 59lbs to go. We can both do it.

Keep in mind, losing weight is great and all, but the point is to be HEALTHY. So, controlling drinking, better food, exercise are key. Don’t worry what the scale says! You got this!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I like your plan. Keep posting, OK?

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

See this is why I did this, thank you, sincerely. People might be watching and I can't let down people, not even random Internet unknowns, lol.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Maybe keep it simple and focus on not letting yourself and your kids down. Think of all of us on Imgur as your support. (And by the way, I wrote what I wrote because you inspired *me*. I've got a fair bit of work to do on my health habits, too.)

Cutting out alcohol is a huge help. I wish you health.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

just quitting drinking will lose you 20 pounds in 45 days

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I'm hoping the combo makes weight loss easy and no drinking will give motivation. Even if it's just because I'm bored.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You can do it, I was a hopeless drunkard and hit bottom, bloated fat tired humiliated heartbroken and mildly insane... Stopped drinking and over time my life got better because I gave myself a chance - YOU can do this

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Bro. Started keto 3 weeks ago. Lost 17lbs. Meat and salad. Been walking every morning for 25-50 minutes. Do it.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I also have lost around 20 lbs the first time and now this round of keto. You lose a lot of water weight when you cut alcohol and sugar.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I meant to add “within the first month.”

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

it takes about 4 to 6 weeks for the body to switch to ketosis. you have not even really begun to loose fat yet. be careful, keep it tight

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

17lbs in 3 weeks? Wow. How much starting if you don't mind my asking?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

keto can do "wonders" but you have to do it right. ideally with medical supervision. 270lbs to 185, kept it off and healthy now. ama

painfreefood diet is almost as good as keto but without the mega challenge of avoiding 99% carbs. Look for RachelsTea for instructions. ama

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I'm trying

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You will do this. I'll be cheering you on. Which is your favourite doctor?

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Thanks friend. Asking the important questions! Tennett is so watchable, especially as many seasons, but I really like Eccleston. I find the original run of doctors unrelatable nowadays despite a fondness.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's stupid, but i just had a feeling that you might say Eccleston! I enjoyed Capaldi as the Doctor, but the stories weren't as great as those for the earlier doctors.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah, agreed, had more scope still. Though I loved Capaldo and the reliving the prison one.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

How's it going? How long? Let's show them we can, yay us!

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Same, started it seriously about 2 months ago. It's going well! The key is to find things that you can be consistent with and enjoy. For me that was waking up a little earlier and getting a morning workout in, after work I just want to go for a walk, read, or poop around. Cutting out between meal snacking and being more aware of hunger helps too. I also started having green smoothies and egg whites with chicken sausage in the am, and more salady things for lunch.

Down about 15 from mid 280s over the summer. Got a good feeling about this!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

4 years ago I was 300, in 2.5 years I went to 204 through keto, but it wasnt healthy i fainted twice due to probably just not eating enough food and stopped. The biggest take aways were 1, drink only water becuase most shit has TONNES of sugar and its so fucking hard to avoid. 2, remove all bread or breaded products from your home, bread holds almost no nutrition and only tastes good because the sugar 3, you can eat as much eggs, rotissery chicken and protein bars and not effect you negatively.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Water - Eggs/Chicken - 20-30g protein bars - lettuce in unlimited quantities. You will also feel more full longer.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Great tips thanks. Chicken and egg wraps using lettuce instead of bread wrap!?
