Day 2. Two laps today, dialysis tired me out. But… hey… two laps is better than no laps. I also wasn't as fast as I have been (even yesterday), which is more evidence two laps was right... but also, I'm not nearly as slow as when I started this the first time.
I did feel a little unsteady, which is why I slowed down. I had low blood pressure at the end of dialysis.
I've put on a little weight in the past 2-3 months, and so I'll have to work on stopping that, going back down in the right direction.

I’ve read the title “Day 2 of being black”

I haven't seen one of your posts in ages. I'm glad to see you're still exercising, hope things are looking up.
daychilde
It's been ages, but will be back to every day now :)

You'll get your strength back, do what you can. Every win is still a win, no matter how big or small.

Very true, thank you for the reminder! <3

Initially I was devastated cause I thought it was Day 2 of being black, but then proud and excited after seeing the real meaning of the title.....what a wild ride!

Don’t beat yourself up for slowing down. Fitness isn’t a zero some game. Any little bit that you can do is progress and is better than doing nothing. You’ll be running laps in no time
daychilde
Oh, it's all good. I'm just slightly disappointed and slightly irritated. Frankly, I feel like my stamina really wasn't improving much - some, but not much - before.
But I"m gonna do this anyway, and work toward being able to make it to the car, put the wheelchair in the car, and drive.

It's not fun. Most of my family is afflicted and facing this choice.

I'm definitely learning more and more that it may not be as optimal of a solution. Dialysis three times per week *might* be a better option than taking immunosuppresants every two hours the rest of my life even when the new kidney eventually stops working. meh. Still more to learn on it, though.
Spaceqowboy
Awesome job there, my friend. Keep it up!

Is the amputation related to the kidney failure?
daychilde
Not really. Both are related to 10 years of unmanaged diabetes, which is *related* to my adult diagnosis of ADHD. heh. Diabetes weakened my health and circulation. Had a wound on the foot that got infected. They had to amputate behind the toes. THAT never healed after nine months, so I ended up with the amputation. Kidney failure more directly related to the ten years of unmanaged diabetes. Whee. :)
ArcaneM37
Aaa so same original source. Ouch. I hope you've got it all under control now.

You callin me fat? YOU CALLIN ME FAT?
…because I am. But I am merely obese after a lifetime of being 'morbidly obese', so there's that ;-)

Fuck ya!!! Something I like to say is your muscles are earned in the gym and your body is earned in the kitchen.
Keep up the great work getting to a place of better health! It sucks. It is not easy.
It is worth it to be able to see your hose looking straight down. 🤣
daychilde
Well, by your definition, I should have WAY better muscles, dammit. hehehe.
Heck yeah, general health masks the improvements, but I went from insulin to no diabetes meds - just diet and I'm managed. :)
