I had installed a 1070 from last year and bought DDR4 ram at the time, but didn't realize my current motherboard only took DDR3 ram. 1 year later, I can afford a final upgrade. Previously processor was 5 years old as well.

This bitch was so hard to get off, thought I was going to break the old motherboard.

5 years of accumulated deliciousness.

Almost good as new, still runs great!

The old motherboard

Used rubbing alcohol to clean the bottom.

Replaced the do-hicky.

Jerry rigged a hard drive bay but cutting/bending the metal, now it clicks and I have 3 hard drives (2 SSD, 1 HDD)

The new kid on the block.

If you've never felt to pressure of installing a processor, lemme tell you, it's scary. Getting the thermal paste just right is equally scary too.

Got the clean fan on the processor after I out the new ram in.

Had to drill new holes because the screws didn't line up right (so effing stupid), ended up cutting my thumb super bad on the sharp metal. This ordeal took and extra hour.

The screws didn't work as well as I wanted, so I reinforced the support with some wire.

I've been reading about right side sag on these heavy GPU'S, do I jerry rigged some electrical tape to support the right side perfectly. The alternative was buy a GPU support unit, or just let it sag and stress the motherboard.

Booted up in the first try, 5 hours later. I was so happy, I literally cheered and laughed.

All in all, it doesn't look like your typical IMGUR build, all clean and fancy with water cooling and professional cable managment, but this is MY beast. She took some blood from me today, even as I took some of hers.

Final specs:
MSI GTX 1070
16GB DDR4 RAM
Z270 MSI Motherboard
I7 7700k, 4.2gh

P.S. If anyone likes Fortnite Battle Royale, Gears of War 4, Gwent, or League of Legends post in comments if you wanna game!

And no, those aren't the only games I plan on playing in this rig ;)

This is true. Ol' Bess was on the donor list for awhile.

Nice but if the screws are not aligning you are doing something wrong. They are very much standardized. Well if it works w/e

Let's be honest he seems to do dad shit instead of getting fitting parts. That dust screams: I don't take care of my pc

Be careful, the 7700k runs quite warm. If you start having problems, I recommend a new cooler.

I checked it before bed after some gaming, was sitting at a healthy 42 Celsius. I also custom adjusted the fans to kick on high if it (1/2)

Gets over 60 Celsius
