Hey guys. My HDD died after a long years of service. So i am about to buy a new SSD.

Samsung is best for the price. Intel is best but more expensive. Buy 2 disc one for os and programs and one for storage.

Could always try Log. All the kids love Log.

EVO is pretty good but make sure it has the lastest firmware, earlier EVO firmware had a bug that caused drives to drop in performance.

Samsung 840 is nice. I've been using one for a few months, great performance, no errors or problems.

That is the drive to get. Don't get a crucial, pain in the ass RMA process and drives kept going bad.

I have an 840 EVO 500GB, been great. Try to get a sale though, 1TB is pretty pricey.

i would say dont, get a 100-500gb ssd and have a HDD for mass storage.

A 1TB SSD Are you sure OP

Yeah i had a 1TB before and i would love to have that again. But do you think it would be smarter to buy 250 gb SSD and then 1 tb HDD?

I have a 120gb SSD which holds my OS, wow and D3, everything else gets installed on a 1tb HDD. A lot cheaper, and same benefits.

Its definitely more economical to do the latter, yeah. @zzorgzz mentioned 120.

Grab a 3TB WD green drive for storing files, and your SSD for OS and programs you use.

3TB greens sell for $99 on a good day

for US, on Amazon, 3TB Green drives are going for $99, never go over that price. Samsung or Intel for SSD, avoid OCZ

The Samsung Pro are more reliable than the EVO, though they come in smaller capacities. Comes with a 10 year warranty though.

Yeah and that it the reason why i'm also lookin at Pro! Becuase damn that is nice!

Do you really need 10 years? Replace it with something larger and faster in a few.

Yes, I've run HDDs for longer than that.

Decision. Thanks phone.

Why? And isn't that a deciaion, not a need?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sure, but I do care about my S/HDD not giving up. I'd rather have a 10 year warranty than a 3 year one.
