Working in Zambia right now, and this happened yesterday. The nation has been quite bad at investing in building up local industries so it basically has been a single-export economy and now with the deflation of the Chinese currency, Zambia is tanking.
Lungu, the President, barely acknowledges it appropriately, including not really acknowledging the daily 8-hour power cuts and short water supply, but figured that the National Day of Prayer would be the solution for all of his problems.
