Okay so last year about this time, I got all excited and managed to hit FP because my family wasn't homeless anymore, and we had gotten into an apartment on section 8. (Ain't nobody got time to be arguing about living off of the government!)
So here have an update!
We are paying almost all of our rent now. 200 dollars shy of full rent. We are actually going to be moving here in the next year back to where I come from, Arkansas. So what we pay for rent here in the Portland Metro which is almost 1100 dollars, we will be able to get a nicer place, for half of that cost. By the time we do move in June, I will have gotten my Bachelor's in History, and starting on my Masters of American History (but lets face it, almost all history majors love any part of history American History is just one of the ones offered through my school [Go PENMAN!]). My family and I are excited about this move because it will put me by my family, and not just his.
In the past year of all of this, IMGUR has continued to be fluffing amazing. Especially on days where I have thought man I can't do this anymore, I really am being a mooch. But then I look at it, we are almost completely off of SNAP, almost completely off of Section 8, etc. As a family, we have grown. We've gone to being more fiscally responsible, and most of all grown closer. 4 years on IMGUR as a non-lurker, and not farming points through comments. 4 years of pink jelly beans from my annoying assed esd. 8 little paws from my rats, my husband (who farms points through the comments, its hard but honest work) and a kid that is 5 foot at 8 years old.
Most of all this post while it will sit in Usersub, is to say, we did it. Life is hard, life sucks, but dang we did it. We aren't homeless, we aren't working poor anymore. But most of all, we are living life. This year has been an amazing journey. Thank you to everyone that wanted to help.
Yup that is about it.
Here have our Christmas tree that went up early this year, because we have so much to be thankful for.

When you turn struggle into achievement you can have anything. I feel happy for you!

I don't say this with any ill will towards OP, but there's places I cant afford rent for so... I don't live there. I'd love $200 toward rent

None taken, that is actually why we are moving from here back east because it is getting ridiculous.
