I was one of the lucky ones who managed to arrive safely in Sweden after leaving Iran back in 1985 toward Dubai on a 4m long boat, with no life jacket and not knowing how to swim!
Arrived in Sweden with only the cloths I was wearing and was welcomed as a political refugee! Managed to study and became and engineer and travelled the world since then!
It took me almost 10 years before I could force myself to get on a small boat again!
36 years later, millions of people are not as lucky as I am, 1000s of them die every year trying to pass the sea to safety and for a better lives for themselves and their families.
