Space Marine 2 actually feels a lot like Gears of War but with more Doom mechanics to keep your health and armor up. Like the more damage you put out the more health and armor you regenerate in most cases
I have not played either game, and while I know some lore of WH40K, it's only a bit. So I'll take your word for it and punch Leandros in the face if I see him. I'm going to assume he deserves it.
