Goldens are actually one of the smartest breeds but also one of the neediest. They'll rely on humans to do most things. They're not trying to figure out how to get the ball, they're gesturing towards it and wondering why you're not doing anything about it.
I have two shepherds, Wolfrik (left) who is 4.5 years old and Drina who turned 1 last month. Wolfrik figured out how water distorts visuals a long time ago, but it was hilarious watching Drina discover the distortion during her birthday. Her normal balls float, but she had one that sunk. She confidentially tried to grab it only to come up with a mouth full of water and utter confusion across her face.
Mine was Rick, he was 120 lbs of muscle in his peek, Goldens are amazing. I now going to have a shot for all the good boys and girl who have gone. To the Pack

Why not float? Always float. Bad ball. Make sad.
