Continuing my Spooky Season horror film watch for every day of October. I'm going to try to see things I've missed over the years but will probably see a few classics and personal favorites along the way.
Last night’s film was X (2022) available on Max, streaming rentals, and physical media.
X (2022) basic plot description: The small cast and crew shooting a porn film in 1979 rural Texas have to try and survive the slaughtering rampage of the elderly couple they’ve rented their filming location from.
Another Ti West film for this list and it’s another well done homage to the horror films of the past. House of the Devil from day 8 was a pitch perfect early 80’s satanic panic film, and X does a great job pulling inspiration from the 70’s exploitation, porn, and slasher films. With echos of films like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Friday the 13th it easily earns a place on the list of modern classics.
For my meaningless rating, I give it that X-factor.

FYI for folks. X and Maxxxine are weirdly on Max. But Pearl (the second movie made but prequel to the first) is on Paramount (or peacock. I forgot offhand)
