Instruction Sheet

This is the instruction sheet...This is the original 1980's vintage kit, released by Nitto, of the Fledermaus (Bat) combat aircraft from the SF3D/Maschinen Krieger universe.

I bought the model very cheaply on eBay. It had already been partially assembled, poorly, and there were quite a few broken parts, although I don't think anything is missing.

Fuselage

The fuselage was already assembled, but the previous owner obviously did not follow the directions, as there were thing assembled out of order, making it difficult/impossible to attach other parts.

Cockpit, canopy masked

One thing the previous owner did correctly, was assemble and paint the cockpit.

I'm going to display the model with the canopy opened, so I split the canopy with a razor saw and then masked everything for painting.

Broken Nose Landing Strut

So, the previous owner of the kit managed to break off all of the landing struts.

This is a close-up of the nose gear, with a v-notch cut into it to give a more positive mating surface for re-gluing.

Fixed Nose Landing Strut

A little CA and voila!

Painted underside

I primed the entire model with Tamiya Flat Black to provide variations in the coloring and preshading the panel lines and rivet heads. Then I painted over it.
This is Tamiya Light Blue, over Tamiya Flat Black.

Painted Top Side

Tamiya Olive Drab over Tamiya Flat Black

Painting Complete

All that's left is to weather things a bit and assemble the pilot.

Mostly complete

The pilot is now in his office, as it should be...He's happy as well, giving me a big thumbs up!
