Question: why are right wingers/maga/conservatives obsessed with the color of someone's hair? It's weird.
Like, they don't mind if someone dyes their hair black, brown, red, or blonde. If someone has blue, pink, or whatever hair they melt down. Do they not like pastels?
They also make a lot of assumptions based on the color.
I heard a tiktok the other day of a woman saying that right wing men want to date a woman with colorful hair or a nose ring because their goal of domination is to get them to get rid of it.
I just don't get it.
tl;dr certain hair color bad
stupid answers accepted.

If you dye your hair a natural human hair color--or a close approximation thereof--you're conforming to their aesthetic norms and signalling that you're part of their group. Now, there's no such thing as real nonconformity, but if you dye your hair an unnatural color, you're signalling to your own group that you're rejecting the first group's norms just like all the other cool kids. And this offends the redcaps almost as much as quoting Donald Trump's exact words does.

Because traditionally liberal people have died their hair colors. A lot of them don't like tattoos now either. A lot of them just want the world to go back to "traditional values" of like the '50s. No tattoos, no hair colors, women in the kitchen, etc.

Yeah well we are going backwards. In the mid 90s I had my hair dyed fire engine red and a woman in Canada hit me over the head with her purse at the grocery store. I was only 14.
Back in the day it wasn't just kind of edgy it was an endorsement of anarchy and people viewed you as an actual burn-it-down anarchist. Dyed hair has always been political. It just took a 20 year hiatus from being treated as such.

ugh. They're so exhausting with their weird bullshit

Probably not gonna get a firsthand answer on Imgur

It doesn’t fit into their very narrow and strict idea of being “normal”.
They’re obsessed with this idea of extreme conformity and keeping up external appearances.
They are horrified of sticking out even a little bit as they fear of being shunned by the rest of society, which they think is as evil as they are.
And they jump at the opportunity to shun someone else that is sticking out to reinforce themselves as “the exemplary normal people” in the eyes of their immediate community.
pleaseletmelurk
I was raised by magats so let me try and remember… it’s something like, woman who dyes hair unnatural color is attention-seeking, wastes money on appearance (shallow, vain, cares excessively about frivolous fashion and image), therefore isn’t intelligent/modest/careful, basically is just trashy and disrespectful of traditions and “morals”. Yep, that’s what the hair color is saying to them: it’s a middle finger to their conservative lifestyle. 🤦🏽♀️

“Blue haired” is just one of their terms for filthy librul. It fits into their image of what a shrill evil leftist woman looks like.
tollgret
Am I the only one who hears "blue haired" and finishes it with "little old lady?" I guess they don't use bluing on graying hair anymore
LateNightBunnyParty
Well this shrill leftist blue haired bitch says they can kiss my whole entire ass; we're done listening to their dumbass troglodyte opinions.
CitrusyGarlic
They don't want to have to accept that it's okay to be different. Because if it's okay to look different then it might be okay to act different and if it's okay to act different then it might be okay to vote different

yeah, makes sense. It only applies to certain color decisions. Like, if someone went from black to blonde, no problem.
vilhjalmr26
I think the line there is between colors that are "natural" and not. Ridiculous since the act of dying hair isn't natural, but where did logic ever make the difference.
loma45
It's a caricature they can rage against. "Blue/purple haired" = feminist, academic (either student or prof), raging against issues they don't actually understand, SJW, etc etc. It's kind of like how the left uses the "inbred redneck" as a stereotype. It's representative more than literal hate for hair dye.
It's just a way to boil down the other side into a simple icon to safely be angry at, instead of dealing with the fact that reality is more complex and voters are not a giant monolith.

BenderRodriguz1010
Girls with colored hair and piercings are the inversion of trsd wife and they hate it. I'm sure there's a domination element to it. Nazis all the way down.
BenderRodriguz1010
The only answer I've seen that makes sense is they view it as a warning like venomous or poisonous animals and plants. To ward off predators. They are technically correct if it keeps them away because they're predators amd shitty people. Also they're fucking DUMB.
vurcease
Could it be that simple? *looks around at... all this* Yes, I suppose it could.

jenofthelake
If they can't infantilize them, they're uninterested. They're not interested in women who have strong character and confidence. They just want a woman who is childlike. It's an epidemic. It's disgusting. And it's got to stop.
epicurusaquinas
The most basic meaning of being conservative is favoring traditions & gradual change.
For example, I'm conservative in my engineering style. It makes me a good quality professional bcoz, while I support change, I don't support untested or chaotic change. Avoidable problems suck!
So @OP, IMO philosophically conservativism can be good. Guard change. But some folk just resist change by habit. That's unwise. Thought-wise: Hair color so what? Compassion-wise: It's unkind to judge appearance.
chaotropicagent
Because they don’t see many Ramona Flowers pink hairs and see a lot of perfectly happy pink-haired bigger people at Wal-Mart and feel the need to police their bodies.
WalkItOutLikeTheFlash
My guess is the hair color is somehow an indicator of extreme left leaning political ideology. I.e feminist, gender fluidity, vegan, socialist, etc. not that I agree with any of it. Spoiler alert: it isn’t but Stupid is as stupid does

Wait until you learn what they think about peoples skin color.

Bro if I could bleach my skin and have shimmering gradients of purple and candy blue and metallic orange and neon pink I would in a heartbeat. Instead I just wear shirts

The good thing with shirts is you can wear a new color every day.

thedudeman519
Because anything not "normal" is a threat to the entire Conservative world view
StormBurnX
Hey so I can actually answer this one! The short version: they have it (psycohologically) beaten out of them in their youth. When you get sent to bible camp, church, etc, you're told what things are and aren't okay. And anyone who does 'other' is an outsider, someone to be simultaneously pitied and feared, shunned and attacked (the best defense is an immediate full-force offense after all!). Growing up religious is the norm for these people, but while most religions are just variations of 1/?
StormBurnX
2/? "be good to the world and the people in it", christianity is a fucking cult (pardon my french) that puts "same" on a pedestal and "others" get marked as the devilspawn. The more you can stamp out any self-expression, diversity, empathy, and joy in a child, the more you can control them, so they grow up to be well-behaved, non-questioning cult members, which is essential for any cult. So when they see someone with colored hair, there's several internal reactions happening at once: curiosity/
StormBurnX
3/3 /envy of someone who's free to self-express, and revulsion/hatred for someone daring to be different. The way colored hair is described in these groups is divided into "natural" vs "unnatural" colors - bleaching your hair and re-dying it black is okay because those are all "natural" colors, but anything colorful or pastel etc is "unnatural" and thus shunned. All in all it's a terrible thing but a strange peek into how their minds work. Source: Grew up in a cult, next to a different cult.
sv1rr
Yeah, it's weird. I"m a straight white dude, not exactly what you'd call conservative, though. My hair has been every color of the rainbow, and then some.
Like. It's hair. Who the fuck cares?
woozle
exactly! I literally don't care and even appreciate variety.
