It was one of these fuck faces. A cave cricket. IN. MY. BED.
Hey, OP..that doesn't look like the crickets who chirp sweetly in the night and jump around in the grass.
No, they fucking-well don't, do they? They're wingless, so they don't chirp. Instead they leap around like assholes..
and try to jump on your head. Jerks.
They have freakishly long limbs, are hefty, and make a disturbingly loud clack when they land on a wall... or the floor...or your face.
While not in the least bit dangerous, they do tend to ruin your night when you see them.
Oh well, I didn't want to sleep anyway.
Cheers.
For scale:

Had a nest of these living under my house in North Carolina when I was stationed there. They were always scaring the hell outta my kids.
Redlilly
Had them all over my grandparent's house, used to call them spider cricket
Redlilly
Had them all of my grandparents, used to just call them spider crickets

Not to self: don't sleep in a cave.
axanawe
It's been raining a lot here, they tend to proliferate when it is damp..& find their way into homes. So annoying. Cheers.

Ah, the Giant Weta. Yup, definitely a biggun.
Hurrrrrrrrr
i need some form of a scale otherwise this dont look too scary. as long as whatever crawls on me is not a spider im ok bruh
axanawe
They are not particularly scary..they just are ugly and can startle you half to death when they jump several feet at you..in the dark.

For scale (and fixed the post, thanks.) http://imgur.com/3ii4EPV
FlightTiger
Hang on. Based on the number of chirps per minute and the ambient temperature in this room, it is a snowy tree cricket.
axanawe
You can't fool me, @FlightTiger. No wings=no chirps. So there. Cheers.
CObullUshitGH
It was waiting to crawl into your ear.
axanawe
Yes, well, I ruined his day then. He's outside now, in the rain. Where he belongs.
CObullUshitGH
You are a very kind person.
SammyCola
It's called a mole cricket I think. Got bit by so many of those fuckers in the sandbox at school.
DeathMonkeee
That is a cave cricket, THIS IS A MOLE CRICKET http://songsofinsects.com/wp-content/uploads/insect_musicians_neocur-hexa_LE_WHITE.jpg
SammyCola
Oh god I'm getting flashbacks
DeathMonkeee
Mole crickets get to the size of small crawdads(2-3 inches long), and they suck balls.
SammyCola
Geez they would probably eat my bearded dragon.
DeathMonkeee
Nah, they eat other bugs and plant roots mostly.
