When we took our husky pup to the vet to get shots and chipped, the vet tech came out and assured us that they were not killing our pup, that she was just being overly dramatic.

I used to smoosh my husky Samantha's face all the time and she loved it! That and snagging her snout in the dog version of 'I got your nose!' would give get the zoomies like nothing else. Gods I miss her

*quickly lowering volume* Ah, Huskies....

Why are they like this?
I feel like no other breed has that much sass and fabulousness as Husks do

If you adopt a working breed, GIVE THEM A JOB TO DO. Not only will it wear them out, it will also provide them with valuable enrichment and help to keep them from destroying your house and sanity.

Knowing huskies are like this makes that scene from The Thing with that one Husky sitting still without making any sounds really scary.

Huskies are the himbos of the dog world.

People take a working dog and bring it into the house as a pet, then are surprised when they act like this. 🙄

Nothing seems wrong here- sure, they'll be active but most "working dogs" are not fit to do the job they were bred for. You can have a litter from two purebred, working Border Collies, Huskies, etc and you might get one or two puppies that are right to continue the job. The rest are better as farm, family or playful competition dogs. I do think people should understand the breed they're getting but they don't have to feel bad for wanting a working dog.

Not all greyhounds race. 🤷‍♂️

Huskies seem best for a stay at home family that will work em out. So smart and energetic, but needs their people (maybe a second dog, but I ain't sure) (every dog is different, not all tropes true for all dogs), but I seen footage of them eating through a wall cause no one was home

I was reading a book about picking the right dog and they said that if you are often away from home, get a dog to stupid to realize you aren't there. Get a bulldog who thinks he just doesn't know where you are

They are fine in the house as long as they get exercise. I have three and we ride, ski, and run over 7 miles a day. People who don’t plan on this routine should not have them.

Yes. You need to keep them stimulated and exercised. So many people take on dogs like this because they look good without thinking about what they need. They're dogs bred to walk long distances so they need it.

Working dog traits aside, they also haven't had the pack mentality bred out of them like other breeds. While they seem wacky by nature, their exaggerated body language and often higher pitch wails are based on long distance communication. They are EXCELLENT communicators. Some females can be obsessive pack building hyper-social dogs, while others can be meek and aloof. Every dog needs exercise, but working breeds need mental stimulation; puzzle toys, games, scentwork, sled pulling, etc.

They're also picky eaters; they tend to hold out for a higher value meal (high calorie) rather than eat boring kibble. Husky play can sometimes be way rougher than typical dog play because their coats actually provide good protection. The seasonal shedding is a thing (moreso if you have chinooks).
I've got 3 and they're incredible dogs. Just keep in mind you're a pack member, not a boss, and they'll do anything if they think it's fun.

My golden obeys commands, my husky merely agrees to cooperate sometimes.

My son's dog is a mutt; he's triple coated, so our house gets vacuumed every day. There's no stopping the tumbleweeds.

I feel that. My old boy is a muttsky with triple coat of all short hair. You learn to live in a fur-globe lol

And at least two malamutes...

Had to go back and look. Red one at the beginning and the one hanging out of the car at the drive-thru.

Yup, ears always give it away, but overall fluffiness is a strong cue, as well as head/face shape. But some huskies be husky so ears are always the dead giveaway. My two boys were never this vocal though.

I was looking at the thick legs. Mine have never been vocal. If they are, something's wrong. They've trapped a coyote, a skunk, or a raccoon. Or a plumber.

Yeah, same. I used to say malamutes are NOT huskies, but everytime I did someone would be like "well mine acted the same way". Mine were goofballs and weirdos, but none of that spastic/drama/vocal stuff. And we had a dozen or more come through the dog rescue I ran in asia, and they'd only be vocal the first night if ever beyond the normal "chuffing".

Anyway. Hope your boos are loved and awesome!!! :D
