North American map Tolkien style! (progress so far)

I've always wanted a map version of America done in the style of the maps of LOTR, so I decided to do it myself. I'm about to start labeling! The mountains were killer...

OP better update

11 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

No worries! I plan to! Besides uploading an entirely new image, is there a way I can let everyone who helped me here know when I'm done?

quite true, i shall be awaiting :)

I think you can do another upload and put the previous pic in the description so they can see the before! P.s. could put dots for capitals

Don't forget to mail it to me when you are done so I can frame it and mount it in my library.

I'm considering making prints and selling on easy or something... idk... I've never seen anyone else do one of these before.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'd imagine it would sell well. Let me know if you do that.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'll probably post a link with the final product!

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You'd have a buyer in me, for sure. And if you keep it up and make other maps in this style I'm sure you'd have interest. Get thee to Etsy!

I'm making an etsy page now. Will post it when I finish! Thinking to sell B/W copies for 20 and color copies for 30. That sound fair?

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Does to me. Just lemme know. My wife would love this.

Great job! I'm just guessing your from the west coast?

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nah, SC. It just fit better on paper this way...

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Do Texas a favor and omit Houston.

lol noted

If you're looking for something to add to the midwest, the north and south platte rivers drain into the Miss river.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh wow, nice job! The level of detail on the west coast made me guess west.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well that's where the capital of imgur is, I had to represent!

Any suggestions on landmarks I should remember to include?

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is awesome and it would be great to add the national parks Roosevelt got recognized. Devils tower and such.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Grand Canyon maybe?

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Top 15 or so major cities, Grand Canyon, plains, badlands, not too much though don't over crowd that beautiful map

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yellowstone (draw a geyser!), grand canyon, everglades

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The Bridge of Goldengate, The Tower of CN, The Caverns of Karchner...

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Mount Rushmore seems "Tolkienish".

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Or just the Black Hills.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Just do National Parks and major cities. I wouldn't try to do major landmarks...would look too modern.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Was thinking regions too. Maybe old indian tribe lands?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not a bad idea. Could just do a pre-colonizaion map. Mark some big landmarks (Grand Canyon, Badlands, etc...) but no cities?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm trying to keep labeling slim. Will do a couple key cities.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is cool, but I think Id do a kind of just-geography one, make a copy, and then add other things to it.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Meaning, make a copy to scan and upload/sell, then add to the original. I bet it would look off somehow trying to add on to the copy.

Your mom.

I do plan to include the grand canyon. Otherwise known as your mom's vagina.

http://imgur.com/FdO9eoz Gotta give you credit for that one!

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

It looks amazing btw. You should include the Great Salt Lake.

If it's not already in there.
