We've come a long way, baby!

Nvidia TNT2 vs Nvidia RTX 3080 graphics cards.

I remember when the Riva TNT2 was the latest and greatest, that all us kids craved for!
(Yes, I'm that old *sigh*)

It's amazing how realistic and fast game-graphics have become.
I still remember the feeling of awe at seeing the realistic-looking water in Unreal for the first time, back in 1998.
It's weird to think back of, since in my memory it was as beautiful as the water in modern games now, even though I rationally know that it (by today's standards) doesn't look real at all.
The bar has really been raised sky-high in comparison.

I just love this technological development, and I feel privileged to have been part of it since back when the Commodore 64 was "cutting edge" in the world of personal computers :-)

I love you're content

Clarification: I didn't actually use the TNT2 card with Unreal, since the TNT2 card is from 1999 - by then I'd moved on to Unreal Tournament

You got any of them Cirrus Logic VLB cards?

Sadly I didn't keep it when I upgraded back in the 386/486 days :-/

I didn't keep mine only because it stopped working right :( DX2 66MHz suddenly felt like 0.66 MHz, and yes I checked the turbo button. :P

The turbo button is how I obliterated my dad's Tetris score back then lol - sooo much easier in slow motion ;-)

Now that's going back a bit! I knew someone who had one.. he could play Quake with those fancy GL textures!

Hey, don't go throwing around that fancy hardware here. *goes back to amiga 500 with 20mb harddrive*

I actually had that. Running Dune II without having to load multiple floppy disks... game changer!

Oh yes. Those games with 10+ diskettes. Warping to area? Go insert diskette #4
