Back in February of 2020 I was a lowly resident working an ICU block in a small Midwestern town. I ended up seeing some of the first covid positive patients for our hospital and then (surprise surprise) getting a case of the ‘Rona myself! I was informed by my residency directly that I would have to use 10 days of vacation before my “sick leave” would kick in. That sort of sucked because that was all the vacation I had left for the year, but we all thought the world was ending and I didn’t really have any way to complain, so I just spend the 3 weeks total in quarantine playing video games and having long political arguments with my stuffed animals (and by the way, they have some crazy ideas btw… it’s like they have stuffing for brains!). Anyway, fast forward to now. I am married, have a medical license, and a “real job”. I started feeling sick on Friday, texted my boss and he had me home test. Low and behold, I am positive for COVID. He informs me that I will not be able to go back to work for 1 week, and that I will have paid sick leave. Wow… I have been watching duck tales, eating red hots by the bad (it helps counteract the bad taste you get from Paxlovid (gross COVID meds) and just chilling with my wife. Still wish I weren’t sick but who am I to complain?

Oh, "paid". Never mind.

I went to my doctor yesterday and he made fun of me for wearing a mask then gave me a long lecture about how the vaccines are causing cancer

My brother-in-law went to the doctor the other day and she tried to sell him vitamins from her supplement company ?‍♂️

That's not a doctor. That's a scam artist making money off people's suffering. Report him and find an actual doctor.

He was always arrogant but okay until he started saying these things

Report them now. Holy fuck who knows how many people they've hurt

Seriously, that "doctor" should not be practicing medicine

No, he does his job, he should just not share those opinions or the even worse ones he has

Nah, a doctor who doesn't believe in medicine is a shit doctor no matter how well they can take a pulse.

I work in healthcare too. You have to use vacation days to quarantine?! What?

As a resident? Absolutely. No rights for quasi-slaves

I am just supposed to be grateful for the privilege of working 80+ hours a week for minimum wage.

Yeah being a resident is it's own animal. Not the same employment structure as anything else in the hospital.
