Job posting in Sydney, Australia.

Sep 25, 2016 10:08 AM

As a gay man, I'm not sure how I feel about this. You should be hiring the right person for the job, not basing it on their sexuality.

They want someone gay to be their goto person for gay customers. Every job I have read lately discriminates against someone..usually me

Well I mean it's not like they are just coming right out of the closet and saying it.

It's not saying that they're going to hire a person based on their sexuality. It's to indicate the they're supportive of the LGBT community

Whoops, I forgot the 'I'

Is it even legal for them to ask about your sexuality in a job interview?

Not in Australia. I think it's more to indicate that they're supportive of the LGBT community.

Just wondering if acting "fabulous" in the interview would improve my chances, and what they would do when I dropped the act on my first day

Fabulous isn't necessarily camp. Something or someone can be fabulous if there's a confidence or boldness.

That's true, but the subtext of this sign is p. clearly pointing towards "we want more gay people in the office"

It says diverse down the bottom. Westpac & St George banks are merging. Westpac is huge on diversity (multiple friends work there).
