For any medical students (or doctors!) out there, I came up with a visual aid to remember CKD stages, since I kept periodically forgetting this for nearly a decade of being a doctor.
This shows the eGFR at which a Pt is classified into the different CKD stages.
- Stage 1 is >90 which is just normal/all of us, so ignore.
- Stage 2 is 60-90, so basically anything between normal and the top of the watch.
Or you can think of it as:
"2 [stop]watch!"
I'm a big fan of mnemonics and memory tools, usually acronyms, but sometimes a visual one like this is very useful. I hope this helps some of you to remember this earlier/more easily than how embarrasingly long it took me!
(Posting again in a stopwatch form, since the clock aspect seemed to confuse/offend some people, for whatever reason.
Once again, sorry to post it in the public gallery, but I'm putting it here in the hopes that it is publicly searchable and can help future medical students searching "How to remember CKD stages")

Third time is the charm. Imgur search is complete garbage if you don't have tags. It doesn't appear to care about titles or descriptions. So put the things you think people will search for in your third attempt - as tags.
