It's zionism 101: 'Every criticism of Israel is an attack on Jewish people. If the Jewish people don't feel unsafe when Israel is not supported, then make them feel unsafe.'

What’s really happening it’s Republicans called a few university presidents to testify before Congress about antisemitism on campus a few months ago. Those presidents didn’t fully denounce it (being free speech and all) so the R outrage machine kicked into full gear and got a pair fired. Now the rest are scared enough that they’re disproportionally responding to legitimate anti-war protests out of fear of losing their jobs.

I think it’s supposed to say “Let’s all ask…”

A better source for what the Columbia Spectator has published about this can be found at...their website: https://www.columbiaspectator.com/

Not sure WTF downvoted this suggestion that rather than reading an article about articles that you could go read the articles themselves...

Yeah, the Spectator is the Columbia school newspaper, and it does have many recent articles about what is happening there...it's sort of what they do.

As a former Columbia student I can say, first hand, that protests have a long history there...without much danger or bloodshed.

Which is to say that most Columbia students are safer at a protest there, than they would be walking into a redneck bar in Arkansas.[shrug]

The legitimate concern I read in this post was about potential violence from outside protestors. Would it be practical for the administration to restrict access during protests to those associated with the school? That would keep the Columbia protests within the school community and not overrun by other agendas. But that may not be possible to implement.

If you've seen pictures of the encampment in a grassy area; that's between Broadway and Amsterdam in Manhattan. Not impossible, but tough.

I believe it’s gated, and they shut the gates once a year for a week or so, which serves some obscure legal purpose, proving it’s not public property despite being (generally) open to the public.
