#3 Ohhh, for a second I thought you were talking inner thoughts. Yeah, that makes sense.

You guys can afford therapists? My insurance offers the clueless variety exclusively

#30 OK, this is absolutely true. Listening to music distracts my brain and I sing along while working. That way I'm not distracting myself with something else!

#3 and if I ask you to repeat yourself, please don't say it in exactly the same way

Honestly, Listening to those sad songs while I'm feeling like shit can be quite cathartic. Letting myself feel it and, hell, even cry, I'm better for it after.
Usually...
Then there's the depressive holes, where the wrong song can just dig a deeper hole where I hate myself more.

That word "cathartic" is so under-used. I used to have 5 or 6 songs I would listen to. They were my 'angry' songs. Another period I would watch John Wick going through the museum. It was like letting steam off in a slow and controlled (read: "quiet") fashion. Did it make me angrier? Well, yes it would, but only briefly. Oh, and look up the "Klingon Therapist". It might encourage you a bit.

Whoever made this fumo is going through the same stuff as me and has the same feelings and problems as me and it's making me feel very un-alone so thank you

#49 "You don't even like yourself."

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

#47 so just say you don't have the energy for it instead of lying about why you don't want to do it lol

The adhd one got me. I don't even know the lyrics I just go "if you like piña coladas and getting drunk in the rain. If you're not into yoga, try pilates instead." Yes I am a mess.

Creativity is very common among those with ADHD.

@op you may have put a random toddler pic #13 in your dump

2 years ago | Likes 52 Dislikes 1

Thanks for the heads up. She takes up the other half of my storage.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

To be clear, all toddlers are random.

I looked at that picture and was like “lol I know right” but after a second look I think you might be correct

The inner spark in their eyes... Someone Photoshop em to be dull, maybe demonic black. You know, to match the theme

#47 Replace "time" with "capacity" and use the time you save on explanations to take a nap.

I miss having a therapist., I lost her when I got forcibly switched to Medicare after getting on disability. Medicare is VASTLY more difficult to get mental health help from than my state provided insurance was. (Mmm medicaid. I still have it but it's my secondary now, I.E. they don't do much lifting) I have a new uh, I dunno what her role is, but she's gonna help. She said my insurance should have been giving me as much trouble as it has. *sigh* I can't take care of myself, I'm bad at adulting.

Why is there a random child in here? Makes no sense at all. WTF?

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

even the blackest of thoughts are sometimes interrupted by a flash of joy

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I also object to the child

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Don't worry, she's been taken out now. The picture has anyway, don't think her dad would approve of a mob type hit.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah. Sucks, don't it?

#30 my brain background noise is destructive thoughts and anxiety. So silence absolutely will not do

I used to try music to sleep but it wasn't helping and to make maters stupider, also made my restless leg syndrome worse, cause my legs were like, "Oh, a beat! LESS DANCE~!" On a whim I started listening to comedy. I have listened my favorite comedians into the ground. I should try podcasts, but I don't want to be too drawn in, and I want familiarity. It helps, having to focus on the dialog. It's louder than my thoughts.

I like rain sounds, sometimes with ocean sounds mixed in. That way I can't remember any of the words and focus on them.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I wish that worked. I love the sound of rain. But even when there's real rain I can't just listen to it cause my brain screams over my enjoyment lol

I've been through the motions growing up, movies, music, late night TV infomercials. The thing I settled on now is stuff I have seen literally thousands of times. And I mean that. Used to be old cartoons and other stuff, now it's Game grumps and retrospectives. I can picture what is going on in the video based on whats being said and it helps to shut my mind up I'm listening and using imagery to stay preoccupied.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I can see how that would work. I get fidgety watching TV so I've never really considered it. That's actually a great idea. I'd say I might try it, but I wont lol. Gotta have my security comedians, I mean blanket.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It works for me, but not for everyone. Like, I have harder times with things I haven't seen, because my brain goes into a "I'm interested, gotta stay up and learn" but if it's boring enough, I can watch it until brain just shuts off. Other people don't like this and just use a fan. It's all about what works for you.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's part of why I haven't really moved to podcasts. It's new. I want to listen.
