Imagine the neck injuries when humans would do this. Dogs are definitely special. Come across a tiny dog regularly that fights for sticks twice her size. Just won’t let go, just hangs off of the stick. Whether I’m holding it or some larger dog. She’s absolutely feral when it comes to sticks. Without? Hugs all around.
Well, this reminds me of a tug-of-war tournament that was being held back at my high school. I went against my buddy who was a bodybuilder back then and IT SHOWED. I never lifted, but was quite fit from hiking and doing a lot of sports. However, when we stepped up, I was an instant outsider. After the signal, the rope went taut and stayed like that. The shocked silence was… palpable, everyone expected a quick win for my buddy. Some 30 seconds in I started pulling him while he was slipping – 1/2
you know, pulling with my legs and not back and all. Then he managed to stabilize, turn tables and in the end win, but he had to work for it way more than everyone expected, me included. I got quite a lot of surprised looks that day and probably gained some respect too. 2/2
Ok.. this popped in my head and won't leave me alone. Grammatical question. Should it be "An inch was neither given nor taken...." This is not a criticism or judgement.....just how my brain works and I really want to know.
