Venezuelan here: shit got real very fast, but then... nothing much happened. At least so far, things remain calm. I don't think there's a war coming, or it would have happened last night with a larger invasion. We all kind of expected this to happen at some point, but it's still surreal that it finally did.
I'm still surprised at the speed of the whole thing. The military here didn't even have a chance to get out of their pajamas.

From what I could see from a couple of Venezuelan imgurians, they seemed kinda relieved that they got rid of the guy (weren't exactly fond of him) but what happens next is another story. From my point of view (which ain't worth shit since I don't live there) it's not cool at all that one country could just waltz into another country and take their head of state as a prisoner just like that, and no one will dare touch them. Even if he was a prick.

I saw his remarks. Honestly, I don't feel bad about losing the oil revenue, we never really saw a cent of that. The military did, and I'm sure they are all crying about it. I'm more concerned about the rest of it. The US doesn't take good care of Americans, and I'm not under any illusion that they'll do good by us.

That's the real issue. It seems like Latin America is actually kind of positive about the whole thing on average, but everyone has to really understand what bringing the USA to Venezuela will mean. It won't mean bringing prosperity for the common man, it will mean bringing all the 'rich people are gods, poor people are vermin' thinking to a populace that the administration already sees as subhuman.
